700 people,,, and 600 bikes...
They ended up riding a total of 360,000 miles which is to the Moon,,, and 1/2 way back!!! Amazing total!!!
But,,,
You know what??? This year,,, with just
238 riders,,, 223 bikes
we already,,, "HAVE REACHED THE MOON!!!

I was there in ...05? 06? It didn't snow, so whatever year that was. A good time, and some scenic areas, decent burger too. And its really cool how its taken off, but big parties aren't generally my thing. I have become less social over the last couple years - I blame my ex. She is excellent for blaming. I'd rather just stop there on my own sometime, or with a couple friends.
Of course, doing that won't get you the t-shirt.

Come and join the rest of us anti-social bastages.
I normally don't do crowds either, but this group has a great time.

Showing up any other time at Moonshine is good too!!!
But,,,
You will not get to meet Tom Loftus who last year rode over 100,000 miles and has been in many IBR's...
Hear Tim Yow tell stories of his "Coast - Coast- Coast - Coast - Coast" trip from Key West,,, San Diego,,, Prudhoe Bat,,, Goose bay,,, Key West last year on a KLR 650... Tim is in his 60's too,,, and the first person,,, E V A R,,, to complete this loop!!!
See every conceivable bike,,, with every way known to man adding Fuel Cells/Cruise Controls/Multiple GPS/Electronic systems that rival NASA...
Just 3 of the 303 reasons to show up during MLR...
And,,, everyone gets along... Everyone is happy to be here... Everyone who shows up is a rider,,, not just an owner...

I knew there was a reason I've never been there.
Your taking that quote wrong Tony...
If,,, I held this MLR in June or July??? What other than distance for some riders would they face to get here??? Well,,, they might have to put up with 3,000 people and it become a motorcycle Show,,, more than a ride...
To get to the MLR in early April??? Every year but last year we have had Snow/sleet/rain/tornado's/hail/wind/cold at some time on the way here,,, while your here,,, or on the way home...
The MLR is not loved by those who do not want to get their Chrome dirty,,, but it is loved by those who come...
That is why I said,,,
Those who come to the MLR,,, are Riders,,, not just owners...
As I say,,, the only ones who don't love the MLR??? They are the ones who have never been... I hope I get to meet you someday,,, and the other 400 no matter what the weather riders do too...

As I type this I am waiting for the postman to deliver my 5th IBA pin, but yet in the 2009 season I have less than 1000 miles logged.
TRULY COOL TONY!!!
Yeah,,, that quote which others took from me razzing a friend who was "Bragging" to a group of about 7 standing in a circle that he had rode 167 miles to Moonshine that day,,, and was acting like he should get his name announced at the awards banquet at Richards Friday night...
In this group of 7 other riders???
A rider who rode a total OVE 5,000 miles total to Moonshine and back from British Columbia...
2 From Maine...
2 from New Hampshire...
1 from Florida...
1 from California...
The group was telling him congratulations and all,,, and not until he asked how far they rode did he realize,,, this really does bring out the LD riders... And it really does show off what a great group of not just riders but people they are...
