Well the harley and bmw don't look too bad.  I just think the correct engine for a cafe racer is an inline four.  The early eighties japanese bikes had the correct look.  Suk GS1000, Kaw Z1 ... You know what I mean, eh?

You can even make your own single sided swing arm for extra bonus points.

Yes, these are knock off's of the older Norton, Ducati, and Triumph, but I'm not old enough to have a connection to those bikes.

It's gotta be the red bow.

As bubba said: "Not"

No, I like the simple lines of the bike. There's nothing on there that does need to be. Including a comfy seat and real suspension  Lol  Besides, its a classic BMW...  Inlove

Thanks for the link. So ... here it is in nutshell. A cafe bike has body work ( as in tailpiece ) that sticks out less than the rear tire.

Repeat after me ... no bodywork shall encumber a tire .. nor shall said tire be restricted by said bodywork ...like ...

True cafe bikes have ... well ... duh ... like you just know eh ????

And Clubman bars. And significant attention to weight reduction at least as it can be achieved by taking off parts and throwing them away.

Oh yes .. cut ... drill .. reduce. A cafe bike is a pill ... difficult to swollow ...but it's effects are immediate. Take a dose in the morning ... and live a proper life.

Need to do a bit more cutting and drilling....

I think the Triumph triple makes a comfortable platform for one.  The Thrux is a little too low in the power department for the long haul.

Of course, true cafe racers are vertical twins.  They didn't have no stinkin in-line 4s  Thumbsdown in the cafe hey day....

There's a thread on Britbike.com, in the cafe racer section, about using a Hinckley Bonneville motor to build a Triton. Looks pretty sharp.

Cafe racers are the shite.  I am currently working on a cafe racer project with a '73 Honda CL450 twin.  Should turn out nice.  I don't know how much I will chop the bike up initially.  It is all original and 100% complete right now, even if a little rusty and dusty.  But, they are not really worth anything, so I may hack it up a little.  It will be a long slow project.

It will look something like this when I'm done.

Hey technical question for DD!

I've always wanted to put my K75 in the living room since I can't bear to sell it, but I'm riding it less and less.

What all did you do to "mothball" your VFR?

I'm thinking maybe just fresh fluids and pull the battery would do?

....and then there's the whole "I live on the 2nd floor" dilemma... Lol

I think that .... I cannot find a flaw in that image. Nor your taste in decor. Once again I must ...  acknowledge taste where taste reigns, restraint, where it lends an aspect ... and an audacity that commands respect.  You madam, have my scorecard all .... agitter.

As usual.  Twofinger Bigok
