I made it home. I had lunch with SLK50 and his son in Tazewell. I'll post more later after I get a good nap.

Hey cablebandit, I have pictures of your camels!

Great!  I was beginning to think everyone thought I was nuts when I mentioned the camels.

We think you're nuts for other reasons beside your claim of seeing camels.   Bigsmile

I had a great time despite having to bail out early with a sick Tiger.  Only real regret is that I wasn't able to continue on that run to Tazewell with Mr.Awesome and a great bunch of riders.

An FYI, the Tiger's electrical problem turned out to be my BackOff led license plate.  When I cut the leads on it, it was all truth and light.  Of course it took me about four hours of checking electrics to get to that point.

Ah, electrical farkles... always makes for an "exciting" time at the worst possible time, eh?

Glad you made it home ok. The ride to Tazewell was... (mr.) Awesome.

I'll be doing a write-up this evening. I only took a handful of pictures the whole time; I was too busy riding and socializing. Looking forward to seeing the action shots of Mr. Awesome, MXVet and me that Mr. Awesome took on Rt. 16.  Thumbsup

I'm heading out shortly; gonna ride the bike over to Marlinton and continue out 39/42 over towards Staunton and get on 81 there. I'll put the bike on the trailer over there and "enjoy" the slab with AC and comfy seats.  Cool It'll be nice to ride out past Goshen WITHOUT rain for a change.

I got home and put my clothes in the washer, and then the washer's drain pump died.  Great, I didn't need to spend money on a new washer (/off-topic)

Haven't made it home yet.  Tonight I'm in Bangor ME after riding just over 500 miles of Friday slab in the heat.   EEK! Trailoring is starting to sound pretty good.   Lol

Tomorrow I'll have an easy 250 miles to do.

Had a great time in WV riding those twisties and meeting new and old friends.   Bigok

Home safe and sound!  MI and northern OH officially suck!  I can deal with it on the way down knowing I'm going to the good stuff, but comming home is brutal. I think I may look into that trailering thing that was so popular at the national this year.  Lol
Thanks to RDoug for setting this all up and showing me a sprint and a black bird CAN be dual sport bikes!  Lol  Justcallme.... for all the door prizes and letting me have a proper demo ride on the guzzi.  Thumbsup
Sprint ST and Zeronetgain for being great room mates.  Bigok And everyone else that attended for some good laughs and conversation. You meet the nicest people at an STN event.  Lol

Will post up pics later after I deslime the trumpet and burry a skunk Aura shot while I was gone.  Crazy

Sandy and I just made it home. After we left Lewisburg, we rode to Robbinsville, NC. Sandy had never ridden the Dragon, so, of course, we had to make a few passes on it. We also rode the Cherohala Skyway several times. What a wonderful road!

To whomever came up with the idea of holding the meet in Lewisburg---thank you! Great location.

It was nice seeing a few of the old-timers and meeting some new folks, too.

See you all in Custer next summer,

Jon

Made it home a few hours ago.  Pam's train was half an hour from the station when her phone ran out of juice.  She should be here any minute.

Had a great time meeting new and old friends.  The riding around Lewisburg is primo.  We spent an extra day exploring.  Took a hike along the Greenbrier river trail and checked out Organ Cave.  Learned more about mining saltpeter than I ever wanted to.  The ride home was most of two days droning on the interstate.  When it's hot, the slab is a real frying pan.  I was stupid for not taking my mesh jacket.  Live and learn.  There is a cool alternative through northern Kentucky between Huntington, WV and Cincinnati.  Ky 9 will cut at least 90 minutes off the trip (on I-64 to I-75). It's not exactly twisty, but it's not the slab.  There are routes you can take that branch off 9 if you're looking for more technical roads.

I'll post some more notes in a day or two.
