I did attend, took pictures, but did not ride. Look like everyone was having fun. I'll try and get some photos up after I make dinner, eat it and then finish studying for tomorrows test.

What a great day! A touch windy, (the tent gremlins decided to snap my pop up tent like a taco
)
Every session was pretty awesome until the last one when I should of listened to my body. I was getting tired but still revved to work on a few fundamentals.
The SV tried to emulate its dual sport roots but the gixxer 600 soul living in the front forks said, 'nuh uh'.
Bumpity Bumpity, HOLY SHIT POND?!.... ***GAWOOSH****" Hiding in that grass is a small pond about 2-3 inches deep.
I found said pond after my lazy ass didn't hang off far enough through turn 5 and I drifted wide.
If there wasn't a pond hiding in the grass I could of ridden my faux pas out and continued back onto the track. The front end tucked in the slime and the frame slider did it's job. I Picked the SV up, cranked the throttle WOT to clear its throat and rode on with about 10 lbs of gritty muck globbed to the left side of the bike.
I think I have a mild sprain in my left ankle. Currently in hobble mode but nothing a few ibuprofen can't fix.
I only have a cracked visor on the SV but i'll probably fix that with a couple tie wraps.
Till next time! Ride quick, ride safe!
P.S...Many thanks to Samal for being pointman with Motovid.

Oh and I had fun. I went fast on the SV650. And then went faster on the KTM supermoto. I'm weird like that. No incidents. Probably riding round at 7/10th track pace just enjoying the weather.
No one even yelled at me for passing in the wrong places. I think that's because Scott wasn't there to make me do these types of bad, bad things.

I got home about 11:30. Ate at a BWW and then tried to take a little nap along the way. Didn't help. Very tired. A beer or 2 and I'm off to bed. Bike is still in the truck.
Beautiful day. I don't think I've ever had better weather on a trackday.
Nice seeing y'all again. I really need to get (a more sensible) streetbike to make it out to coffee meets an stuff.
I took videos, although when I went to turn it off after the last session, the screen just said FULL. 8GB. Probably a lot of footage that is junk: monkeying around with the bike before getting on the track. Damn kickstands rule!! GRRRR!!!! I think I got more footage of 2 Russians than anyone else.. oh well.

OK...so
THAT's
what a Track Day is all about....
Absolutely spectacular weather...bright and sunny...a nice breeze to keep folks cool....even the lunch provided was tasty and filling.
Great company. and Miles brought his whole entourage! What a trooper!
As if I needed more proof that it is "...the
Rider
, not the ride..." I got schooled by everybody on the track...even when I had them out-engined by 3X. Special thanks to Johnny B for the triple dose of "yo mama"
and to Nate, Maggie, Kris, Matt, Bill, Dave, and all the rest for the support and encouragement....and to Ben for the loan of a pair of track-worthy gloves. I'm sure I wrung all of the "slow" out of them!
Lesson Learned #1:
I really should have made more of the access to the Control Riders...both when on-track and especially during the down-time. I did not take full advantage of this opportunity for tutoring.
Lesson Learned #1B:
Focus on Technique! Technique! Technique! Smooth is good...the photos show it very clearly...my body posture shows as if I am riding on the street...where everybody else is in a more aggressive posture, leaning into the corners and shifting body weight / position appropriately.
Lesson Learned #2:
The ST is far more capable than I am...but, having said that, it can be a bit ponderous. It would have been "fun" to run a lighter, more "flickable" 'cycle. But this is/could be an excuse...see LL#1B, above. It is all about the technique, dummy!
Lesson Learned #3:
It's hard to "turn off" the habits that save your skin on the street (head on a swivel, look 2X before changing lanes, looking through the guy in front of you to react to what's in front of him, etc...) when on the track....I twice lost concentration / fell off the pace when somebody blew the turn immediately in front of me...couldn't bring myself to ignore them locking up the rear tire and cutting across their rear-end and into the corner on the line I had chosen.
Lesson Learned #3B:
....and failing to turn these back on when you hit the street could be catastrophic. Riding home immediately after the Track Day, I was hyper-conscious of cross streets, merging/diverging traffic, etc, etc, etc...
Lesson Learned #4:
Track Days are hard on tires! Bet I took 2,000 miles off the expected remaining life of my PR2's. But there's no doubt that the chicken strips are much thinner now...
All in all, a very successful day! The only tip-over experienced was from a dead stop. Who knew the ST was so light that a slight gust of wind could topple it? Integral Tip over wings up front + aftermarket Tip-over bars = no harm, no foul!
Home before 8:00 PM...a 13 hour day. Out and back, with a days' worth of track sessions...all on less than a single tank of gas!

Lesson Learned #3 -- That is also known as target fixation and is something you also don't want to do on the street.
Lesson Learned #4: -- You took miles off of the side of your tires at an angle where you normally wouldn't make it to on the street anyways so it's all good.
Glad you made it out there. That's what this day is for. Honda "ST" fits into the Sport - touring group. It's in the bike's name for gosh sakes.
