Now, if anyone is interested, there are 2-yes TWO-1960.s Velosolex autocycles going for $100 in California, in some godforsaken place called Pasadena. Let me know if you want them, or alternatively join the Yahoo group solexowners of america....parts are easy to get and cheap (in the US)

stunningly fast, these things can do about 22mph top and do 250mpg

Boy, if those were a few thousand miles closer, I'd recommend them to a buddy of mine...

I only ride bikes that have ABS and traction control so I'm out.

I had to make homemade traction control for the T-dub. It involves a very complicated system of ball bearings, copper tubing running into an old Coke bottle filled with a mixture of gear lube, goat spit and Blatz, various colored zip-ties (for bling factor), an attached cart with a dead deer on it (which needs to be changed out when it gets "ripe"), and a strategically placed stick. The system is so complicated in fact that I don't wanna try to replicate it for something with as much hp as a Velosolex.

The Sprint I just leave one of the spark plug wires off  Shrug

ABS on a Solex operates like this:
You can activate the manual ABS by rapidly pumping the right hand handlebar lever. However, this is rarely necessary, as the front brake doesn't really do a great deal.

Traction control. The front wheel mounted motor has traction control built into it. It turns the front wheel via a rubber roller. Rather than annoy the rider with blinking red lights and other bollocks, this version alerts the rider that it is working by sending off clouds of burning rubber. You don't see it, you smell it.

Original post in solexownersofamerica:
I have two 3800's. French made, don't know year. (60's?)

Both pulled from a big lot of used mopeds that a friend of mine bought 10 years
ago.

#1; brought back to life with new tires, carb rebuilt, etc but has power issues
(haha don't they all? but more than normal, needs sorted out - don't know why)

#2; is a parts bike, but basically all there, could be coaxed back to life -
maybe. (read rusty and hasn't run in who knows when)

I live in the Pasadena, CA area and need them gone. Pickup only and in turn I
just ask for a $100.00. If someone that loves Solexes (Solexi, Solexium,
whatever the plural is) doesn't pick them up then I'll post them on Ebay.
