I need to renew my bike insurance (1997 CBR1100XX Blackbird) and was wondering if anyone found any better rates for this bike in the Bucks County, Pa area other than Progressive and GEICO. Their rates for this bike are about the same: Liablility is around $350 and adding Collision and Comp adds another $300 or so for a 12 month policy.

I'm 50 years old and have a clean driving and riding record. Any help would be appreciated.

Mike,

I am not sure if you got the rates from their online sites or from a local agent. I received a high quote from Progressive online but when I went to my agent the quote was half the amount. The big choice in the area seems to be State Farm but that requires you to also have them for your automobile.

Thanks for the reminder. I seem to remember years ago that there was a premium to use their online service. I'll contact the local agent.

Over the years I've had Rider ( GMAC ), Bike-Line and Geico to name a few. Quotes from Progressive were always higher than the others. This year I thought I would try something different and had a local State Farm agent quote coverage for all of vehicles and my home. The savings on my motorcycle alone were substantial and collectively were huge. No more stand alone policies for me. Check into the multi vehicle discounts at State Farm.

I have had similar experience with Allstate.  I have all my policies with them and my yearly motorcycle coverage is around 200 for full coverage.  Keep checking - I would hope you could get a much better deal.
