When they are unloading the two bikes, it almost sounds like two different engines or states of tune (unless the engine noise is a mask-over on the second bike).  One bike has the spoked wheels, the other looks like it has the cast wheels.

Doesn't BMW have a 650 and an 800 now?  That would theoretically makes sense to have two different engine configurations if Triumph were trying to compete directly.

I didn't realize the 675 could be expanded all the way to 800 - now I want a 800cc 675 Daytona  Drool

I pulled a picture of a wheelying Street Triple and compared it to the front shot of the Adventure in the woods.

It looks like the same bike, with spoked off-road tires and longer suspension.  Same radiator and guards, same turn signals, same handlebars and mirrors, similar exhaust header pipe...

The latest rumors are that the two new bikes may be a ~770cc Adventure Tiger and a revised 1050cc street-oriented Tiger.  That would explain the drastic difference in engine sound on that video.

Yes BMW has the 650 and 800, but their F650GS is actually the same engine size as the F800GS.

If you pause the video when they're pulling the bikes off the truck, the first one has laced spoked wheels, and when the angle changes the wheel has cast spokes.

Looking harder at the video at certain points, you'll see where there's a high mount fender (orange or red) and a low mount (white); glimpses of the two models.

I don't have much of a life, so pausing the vid and picking through the details was a bit of fun  Bigsmile

The spy shots look like street triple forks with boots or sleeves to protect the up-side down and vulnerable portion....

Edit: The radiator shrouds and turn signals look identical to the ones currently on the 675 Street Triple - Triumph is a "parts bin" bike company, so seeing pats interchange between models is common and expected with them.

I'm excited at the possibilites Triumph's bringing to the market..... now if they'll satisfy my need for a new heavy sport-tourer to replace my aging 1200 Trophy..... and I'm not talking about a Sprint GT either....

This Adventure bike has my attention! I traded my 05 955i Tiger in on my STriple and think a trio of Triumphs in the garage for my riding preference sounds great: my long distance mile eating machine/Trophy, my little holligan/STriple, and an Adventure bike - they've got me covered!  Bigok

You're right it does sound like a 675, and the Triumph Official line has not yet given the displacement size AFAIK.  I was going by the Hell For Leather article which said, "Triumph sources tell us both bikes will use an 800 cc version of the triple engine, going head to head with the  BMW F 800 GS."  We'll have to wait until August 4th to see if this is the case.  I would not be disappointed if they kept the 675 engine - what a gem.

When they are unloading the two bikes, it almost sounds like two different engines or states of tune (unless the engine noise is a mask-over on the second bike).  One bike has the spoked wheels, the other looks like it has the cast wheels.

For a dual-sport, the 675 is relatively gutless down low and spins too high up top, just not a performance envelope that will work well off-road.   But if you stroke it, you have something pretty usable, in a lightweight (for Triumph) engine package.  Reduced RPM is required due to the longer stroke, but you pick up more torque (sooner) and some of the lost HP in displacement.

I reckon the 800cc mill will redline at 10k, peak HP will be around 110, with a fairly flat 50ft/lb torque curve that peaks at a relaxed 6-7k.

I thought the "spy pics" and accompanying texts across the news sites was eerily similar.  Triumph manufacturing viral marketing?  The nerve! OMGWTFBBQ!!!!

The amusing thing about that article is that Hell for Leather is probably the most pretentious, pseudo-intellectual motorcycle web mag out there, and yet they were pretty slow to catch on to Triumph's obvious ploy.  Did anyone seriously think it was coincidence that MCN's "spy photo" and the You Tube video debuted on the same day?

If Triumph is saving a few advertising bucks by "leaking" photos to magazines and releasing You Tube videos, I say good on 'em.  That's more money they can spend on R&D.

i don't think the point of the article was "like, OMG,  triumph fooled us all!!!" rather, i think they are saying that this is the new norm, here's the memo, so turn your skepti-meter up when photos are "leaked." i think there was a comment on the MCN page to the effect of "what, you guys are just standing out in the woods waiting for top secret motorcycles to ride by?" this new methodology could also come back to bite companies in the behind if/when the hyped-to-11 product flops. eventually (maybe), people are going to figure out that every new apple product cannot change our lives.

That's my point.  There's nothing "new" about it.  Anyone whose "skeptometer" hasn't been up for years is obviously slow, and I don't mean around a race track.

Jay Leno is neither of those things, and although his web show features more cars than motorcycles, it's definitely interesting, especially because of the off-the-wall stuff he owns.

The Kneeslider gets pseudo-philosophical about old bikes and doing stuff yourself, but it's never pretentious.

Web Bike World is neither pretentious nor pseudo-intellectual and provides useful, detailed reviews on all kinds of bike gear from seats to tires to helmets, ear plugs, you name it.

You're welcome.

Btw, the longer video teaser that was on the triumphadventure.com flash site is now on U-Tube.
