Should Kris just put it under an arm and run with it?

Well, that would explain the bike looking like it's been lowered. I thought it was only Harleys that had slammed suspensions.  Wink

I have really enjoyed the comments, folks.

This was my first ride on a "modern" sport bike.  It's Mark's (Sparky) 2008 Suzuki GSX-R 600 that's "feeling the burn" under my 250 lbs.  He was gracious in letting me take 'er for a ride, after hearing me lust after sport bikes in general and stating, "I'd love to take THAT for a ride!"

Oh, my wife has concurs that I look ridiculous on the Gixxer.

What fun!  I really like the option of shifting at 15k!  Power was moderate and very linear until about 10k rpms, when it came on noticeably stronger.  At 12k, the liftoff occurs!  TONS of thrust from a 600!  This ain't your dad's TR 500, people.  It felt light, smooth, and had strong brakes.  Shifting was like buttah.  I think I could do a 200-250 mile day on the 600, but no more.
I believe it could be ridden very slowly, with some willpower (I'm fresh out, BTW).

Thanks VERY much Mark, for providing the highlight of my vacation!  No everyone, I did NOT wheelie his Gixxer! (The thought did cross my mind)

Kris -- pay no nevermind to the comments -- the good news is that you can't see yourself on the bike while you're riding (avert your eyes from large plate glass windows).

Will power is highly overrated.

It's all in good fun.  I'd love to see what you could do with a 600 on a track.   EEK!

Believe me when I type:  I have really enjoyed the ribbing!  Just glad I held my bladder while scrolling down this thread!

Charlie, when will you leave?  Was that our very last chance to see you?  The turnout was so good, I barely spoke to you on Sunday.

Technically...I'm already gone.

But I will be back some weekends, as my youngest daughter is still in HS and we're not planning a household move, since this job may well evolve into a project-based activity which will have me moving site -to- site -to- site every 18 months or so.

So...much like Co. Flagg or the wind, I will be there...unless I'm not.

This weekend?  Paul Bunyan is out for me...but coffee and provoking Fred in Rochester is a definite possibility.

Guess I'll have to call an R4 Coffee Meet on Cape Cod and see who the die-hards are!   Lol

Charlie,

My parents lived in Chatham for a while and I remember a nice coffee shop at the rotary.  It's probably long gone but it was a nice place to gather and watch the world go by.

The Cape is really crowded these days, I hear.  They began "developing" the land out there in the late '80's and the old, quaint towns ain't so quaint anymore.

I spent most of my summers as a teen "on-Cape"...and my folks now have a house in East Falmouth, on the Vineyard side where the water is warmer and the beaches are sandy (both thanks to the gulfstream current...).

Although I love the beach scenery etc...traffic on the Cape is murder in-season.  The only sane thing to do is to ensure that you don't ever have to leave the house / the beach / the golfcourse / the marina between Thursday AM and late Sunday night....or you'll want to gauge your eyes out staring at the brakelights in front of you on Rt 28  or Rt 6 / 6A.

After Labor Day...the Cape rocks!

Exponentially worse!  Population Density alone makes it so...the high "1 week / 2 week vacation rental" concentrations further aggravate this.

As teens we'd refer to these folks as "mental rentals..."...of course, the short time frame made for hgih intensity flings with a predictably short half life  :leghump: which seemed to fit in well with the age group / maturity level prevalent at the time.

And, being there for the whole season, we had dozens of hiding places / places to crash for a day or two should an irate Dad come looking for payback...just needed to outlast their rental contract.   Lol

"self-incriminating?"

An enjoyable trip down memory lane...triggered in no small part by a walk 'round the old stomping grounds this past week.  I can still hear the echos of the voices from summers past.  Sights, sounds, and smells (sea air, suntan lotion, campfire smoke) all fuelling an incredible sense of deja-vu...

Of course...XM satellite radio playing all the music from that era on their "classic vinyl" and "rewind" channels contributes the soundtrack to the memories, too.  Lol

But the staure of limitations is a good thing, too!
