I may end up not going to ESTN this year. I'm thinking about going to Munich over Thanksgiving and it's a one-or-the-other kind of thing. As great as it would be to drink some Yuengling in a parking lot with you lunatics, the beer in Munich
is
better...
But is the company any better???

Courtesy of my Uncle Samuel I had the opportunity to drink local German beers from Fulda to Saltzberg and lots of cities in between. "is better"??????? Sorry, not necessarily so. More potent, yep, but there are so many micro-brewed beers around it's hard to say what is best, plus Yuengling ain't too bad. As for the company, IIRC there are two of those steins somewhere in the house emptied several times at Volksmarch near Augsburg, and after one, you could be drinking with vampires and werewolves, you wouldn't be able to tell

Finally made reservations. I'm in.
2 rooms. My brother's supposed to be coming, too, though he may be nursing knee surgery so that's iffy.

Since you didn't mention Munich, I can only assume you didn't actually go there, because if you had, you would know that even our best microbrews can't quite measure up to Bavarian beer. That's not any sort of negative reflection on any microbrew or yuengling... It's a reflection on te superiority of Bavarian beer in Bavaria.

Munich IS between Fulda and Salzburg. Took a detachment of Marines to Augsburg for three months and lived off the economy. Spent time in Munich (Augsburg is in Bavaria) plus the Garmisch-Partenkirchen area, don't get more Bavarian than that. The taste of beer is totally dependent on the taster. Saying Bavarian beer is the superior or the best is like saying Japanese bikes are the best because every town of any size in Germany has at least one brewery. Some are great and some suck. When you get out of Munich proper, try to order a Lowenbrau. Most places outside of Munich don't serve and many have not even heard of it.

So, which bike is going????
If the weather is hot the the DL650; if the weather is nice the FJR.
I have no bad choices. If I ride the FJR I get to keep up with the SPORT-Touring guys on a big touring bike
. If I ride the weestrom I get to say, "I couldn't keep up because my bike is slow" or if I keep up I can say, "You guys couldn't leave a a dual sport bike with skinny tires behind, whats up with that?"

The Wee should keep up as long as you like the 8-10k rev range.
