Eh, From what we've seen the T8 (to continue the theme) is more in the Versys realm than the GS side.  Not really much of an improvement over my Uly.

But the Super Tenere promises to be a DS FJR.... That might be worth the investment, especially if it doesn't sell well or stays special order and doesn't become common as er.... dirt.

Anybody know the maintenance schedule on the S10?  Specifically, valve adjustment interval.

I`d say 26 600 for valve  clearance check,most likely won`t need any actual adjustment till 70-80 k miles.

I think Yamaha missed the boat on this bike, a.k.a. arriving too late.


On my recent cross country road trip I`ve seem only two Charlie and Evan replica teams,,,,,,,drastic decline from previous years.

I think the ADV fad is,well,fading.

Only the FZ8 and not the fazer  Just a tweak of the FZ1  Glad I bought the last model year in U.S. of FZ6 for a way awesome price.

Will still keep an eye on the 800 Triumphs coming out in the next couple of weeks but at least I can buy at leasure knowing I'm good with my set of wheels for awhile

Wow, lots of people seem happy the Tenere is coming here. Alright... show of hands... How many of you guys are gonna go plunk down the $$$ to order one.
How many of you are gonna punk out with "Eh... I'll get one used in 3 or 4 years"?

I know everyone is super excited.  How many are actually going to buy?  

I'll qualify my excitement for Yam's move to bring these two bikes to the States.  First, I'll recap what I've said before about the Super Tenere, I don't like it.  It has poor plastic and radiator placement.  Also, the bike does not work as well as its competitors on paper and that's been summed up by most reviews.  Regarding the FZ8, I think it's a hot bike and would love to ride one some day.  But, I'll not purchase one.

My excitement doesn't come from the the fact that *I* have more choices.  I'm just happy to see new bikes introduced so others have more choices.  If anything, the Super Tenere expands the amount of "Adventure" bikes which brings more attention to the genre.  I would like to see more manufactures do that same to keep BMW, KTM, and (now) Ducati on their toes in the hopes they keep their adventure bikes fresh.

Finally, I hope folks buy these bikes so that other Euro only bikes make it this way.

I haven't found jack about the Tiger 800.  Aren't they supposed to be releasing the info today?

Agreed, I think.  Also wish we could get a 690 Adventure; but thats another story.

I think it's pretty cool they're making both available. I think it's interesting that the naked FZ8 is brought in. The faired bikes are bigger and smaller, and the full on naked is right in between. If I had a jones for a Japanese naked bike, the FZ8 would be right at the top of the list and the price looks good too. But even though I have a Yammie dealer in my town, I wouldn't buy either bike. Why, might you ask?

Because when I buy a new bike again, I'm 99% sure it's gonna be a Triumph.

I just looked at the FZ8 wet weight and compared to both the Speed and Street Triples. The FZ8 is 10 pounds HEAVIER than the Speed Triple 1050, and 71 more than the Street Triple 675!

$14k is well below what I was expecting on the Tenere if it ever got here.

The only review I glanced at on this bike vs the GS was that the GS was a better value since it come loaded with items you cant get on the S-Tenere for about the same price. The S-Tenere is closer to $20k in Europe I guess?
Posted on: 01-09-2010, 16:43:27I think its fair to put the Super Tenere in the same class as the GS. Its closer to the GS than the VStrom for sure. Way more of an off road bike. The price is right in my opinion. Hell if this were a Honda it would be $20k so quit your bitchen.  

I think the FZ8 is awesome. Not everbody likes freaking plastic on their bikes. I am becoming more of a naked guy myself. Humm that didn't come out right.

IIRC - The S-Tenere's initial release in Europe for the first year was a special edition that came with all kinds of goodies like hard bags, top case, etc.  Hence the higher price.

I kinda like the FZ8, I would want more than a flyscreen though. I currently have the FZ6R which is fun and pretty comfortable but in few years hope to do more longer/weekend to week long rides and the FZ8 equipped right seems a good compromise of commute short rides and more serious traveling since I'm really not ready for FJR or the like and the FZ1 for city really doesn't have great low end. Have always liked the Tiger though and an 800cc would be perfect (especially if it's an inch or so lower seat than the 1050).

I'm liking that fz8....cheaper insurance than a liter bike, truly a naked bike like from olden times.     Only problem is Yami's got a few left over fz1's that are going for less than the fz8.     Looks wise I think the naked looks much better than the faired fz-1.....still being in love with my money I'd hit the fz1 and call it a day.

That Tenere thing is   Kudos to Yamaha for bringing in the forbiden fruit.
