I'd really be interested in the FZ8 if it was about 50lbs lighter. Almost 500lbs is a bit heavy for a bike that's only 125cc bigger than my wifes Street Triple but 75lbs heavier! Geez yamaha, did you use lead in the frame?

I see that the Yamaha site now has
accessory package pricing
.
Check out that huge engine guard! It's like a kid's head retainer, and it's a whopping $450.
About $1,520 for the adventure package gets you the side panniers and tank bag. X-Country Terrain for $750 gets you the engine protection and sump guard. About $370 for the top case if bought separate, or get the Comfort/Convenience pacakage for another $1,020 and you get grip heaters too.
So $13,900 is for the base model. Then if you get the packages, it's $1520+$750+$1,020 = $3290 in packages. Back-out the overlap items in the Comf/Conv and Adv packages, and that's $3090 over the base price.
So fully equipped it would be about $16,990... or $17 grand to make it easier to say.

Was just looking around for the heck of it and there are dealers offering deep discounts on this thing already... starting MSRP of $12,300... must be questionable market confidence and a healthy margin to play with.

A GSA here costs 25 grand with baggage so this is not a bad deal.

FYI
See the ALL NEW 2012 YAMAHA SUPER TENERE Adventure Sport Tourer
@ Montgomeryville Cycle Center
through Monday January 3, 2011
Limited Engagement - This bike will only be on our showroom floor through this coming Monday (1/3/11) which means your window of opportunity is short. This specific bike is NOT FOR SALE however we will be taking orders (only w/deposits) for the first production bikes which are scheduled to begin shipping, on a first come first served basis, in May 2011. The only other relatively local viewing of this bike will be at the New York International Motorcycle Show January 21-23, 2011 @ the Jacob Javits Center in New York City.
I have no connection with MCC, other than I spend lots of money (relatively lots for me anyway) there.
Holiday Hours
Wed (12/29/10) & Thur (12/30/10) 9AM – 7PM
Friday (12/31/10) 9AM – 3PM
Sat (1/1/11) & Sun (1/2/11) Closed

Not quite ready to order one yet. I forgot to ask Zeke to take the bags off so we could see what it looked like without the steamer trunks.
Yesterday goes down in my little black record book as shortest group ride ever; maybe all of 1.5 miles from MCC to the diner.
Good seeing ya'll again - funny running into Lisa & her husband there - was a good lunch.
