This machine is a daily rider. He admits to the fact that it often needs attention. I think its rather cool.
The engine is
mostly
an '84.
Yes that is a foot clutch and a hand shifter made out of an old wrench.

I like it too. It's a way cooler bike than the chrome laden poser wagons I see around here. It looks like a real 1%'s biker's bike.

FINALLY - a Harley I can dig.
You see, that's the way they are SUPPOSED to look.
That is a man's bike.
It is not a gay shined up pirate ship like most of the ones I see around here.
Good one, Cookie - thanks for sharing!

+1. A cool machine- ya gotta love a guy that did it himself- and not just with bolt-on BS.

I'm curious.
Why do people like this beater Harley but not the new ones?
I see comments like "he didn't just bolt stuff on but built it himself", "that's a Harley I like" etc. And yet these comments come from people riding safe, comfortable, generic turnkey bikes with bolt on accessories themselves.
How's that make you any different from a dood riding a new Harley with an FI kit and slip on pipes?
Shouldn't you lot at least be riding beat to hell, leaking, mid 1970s Japanese UJMs? Otherwise what are you appreciating? And if you appreciate it so much, get rid of your modern plastic, hit up craigslist and get a $300 basket case and be cool to.
Otherwise, quite frankly, you're all full of crap.
Discuss.

Right on! Not to mention some of my most enjoyable farkles *are* those I made myself. I'd never own one any more (probably), but I enjoy the work he put into it- it's really an art, although he might not agree. I appreciate shadetree mechanics.

Guilty as charged... but post up a pic of an astronaut doing his/her thing, and I'll say that's badass. Doesn't mean I'm going to be, or even going to try to be an astronaut. Everyone needs a hero, but at the same time, most are satisfied with sitcoms and sodapop.

Personally I could care less what brand it is. What I appreciate is the ability for someone to see an item in a hardware store or a trash pile and say "I think I can use that as a shift linkage on my bike". The ability to make something useful out of an item not designed for the given purpose is a trait I greatly admire. This is probably because my mind is too analytical to see things in that way.
Just because I admire someone's handiwork doesn’t mean I want to follow in their footsteps. Often machines created this way are too temperamental to be reliable for my tastes.

Who the fuck are you? I have three Harleys in the garage along with the Tuono,RZ350(which I built),YZ465 (ditto),CRF450R and enough parts to build one or two more. In fact I bet my '81 FLH has more miles on it than you do. All but 5500 mine. Sturgis,Daytona,Laconia and a few that most people don't even know about. Of course this is the 'net and I am lying until someone verifies it. You'll just have to trust me. Fuck the Tuono has 77K on it all but 3 mine.
Anyway I like the turd the OP started the thread about because if you see that bike on a trailer it's being stolen or it broke bad and the owner can't fix it on the side of the road. And I never said I didn't like the new ones. Rode one yesterday in fact. Benefits of the profession.
