Cuz I don't believe the majority of you lot like this bike either.
When I called out the BS, most everyone then came up with some lame ass excuse why that bike is cool, but new ones aren't. How you lot understand what it's about and so relate.
You don't. Don't pretend for a moment that you'll step out of your sanitized world and partake in something like that.
It's amusing how so many jump to the defense of what in reality repels. How could it not? Look at the choices you have made.
I like it...

Your bike is sweet and nothing like the giant paper cut the OP posted.
C'mon man, would you use bailing wire/twist ties/bathroom chain on your ride?

Man you are dense. How about we use the term "appreciate" as opposed to like. Does that suit your delicate sensibilities? I have zero farkles. As in none. I had a Triumph Sprint that I put 40,000 miles on, zero farkles. I'm not a farkle kind of guy. Unless replacement grips count as farkles. Talk about presumptuous... You assume a lot, you know nothing. You have much to learn Grasshopper. Bye, bye.
Even better. 2 bone stock Euro rides.
I can see where you get your "appreciation" from.

Yep 3 years ago in Carlisle. I was joshing about ignoring me though. You did seem a tad distant I chalked it up to Sunday morning flu.

Wow. That's a pretty narrow view of things isn't it? You've decided that any opinion that challenges yours is invalid therefore this entire conversation is pointless.

Exactly! This whole conversation is pointless! How on God's Green Earth can this thread have even be started, with the caption "Saw this Quality H.D..."?
If that's quality then.....
p.s. I'm trying to catch up to Chris with the negative rep score. How many more posts in this thread do I need?

I'm curious.
Why do people like this beater Harley but not the new ones?
I see comments like "he didn't just bolt stuff on but built it himself", "that's a Harley I like" etc. And yet these comments come from people riding safe, comfortable, generic turnkey bikes with bolt on accessories themselves.
How's that make you any different from a dood riding a new Harley with an FI kit and slip on pipes?
Shouldn't you lot at least be riding beat to hell, leaking, mid 1970s Japanese UJMs? Otherwise what are you appreciating? And if you appreciate it so much, get rid of your modern plastic, hit up craigslist and get a $300 basket case and be cool to.
Otherwise, quite frankly, you're all full of crap.
Discuss.
That's similar to my thoughts.
Foot clutch and hand shifter. There is no earthly reason why that's a good idea.
Hard tail. There is no earthly reason why that's a good idea. The only people who think they're "cool" are the ones who haven't ridden one. And people think stock new Harleys are bone rattlers.
I think it's cool to wrench and keep something running, but frankly... that thing is just old and beat and hacked back together just because he can, not out of necessity. Doing that stuff from necessity because stuff is out of production for 50 years is cool. That...? Not so much.
Oh, and shouldn't there be more ragging on the pirate for his choice of ape hangers...?
I don't think it's really the picture of "cool" that others think it is.

Just because I admire someone's handiwork doesn’t mean I want to follow in their footsteps. Often machines created this way are too temperamental to be reliable for my tastes.
Very true.
I spent the 80s riding (mostly) 60s and 70s rat bikes. I've done my time. That was a necessity if I wanted to ride. These days, I'll take something a bit more current and reliable, thank you very much.

Ah an opinion! UNACCEPTABLE.
Freedom is a dated philosophy. Get in line comrade!

That thing is a piece of shit. Why is there a big, wide belt running from the front of the engine to the back of the engine? Why not run that shit all the way to the back of the motorcycle so it can do some work and turn the rear wheel instead of just being some ornament?
no ornament connects crankshaft to tranny.. HD have them separated
it is usually hidden under cover on prod bikes

That misses the point. It's not our ride. It's HIS ride. He built it. It fits him. I doubt he gives a damn what we think about it.

Ya don't think there's a whole BS "sport touring real rider" persona on this site? Or a BS "I'm Vale Rossi" that most sport bikers have etc etc
Of course there is, I just get to see more tough guys around here than (100x more) anything else.

Well, that says more about him than about the bike. I don't care what you think of my bike, but I still prefer a bike I don't have to wrench on every day and that wasn't made from bolted on Hoarders leftovers... which is why some day I'll have something other than a Guzzi.
