So I had Wed. off and the weather looked good, highs in the upper 40's low 50's and sunny! I put on 266 miles  riding around Da Nort Woods. I headed over towards Lakewood then made my way down to Kashena with a nice run down and back up on the newly repaved section of Hwy. 55 that runs along the Wolf River through the Menominee Indian Res. It was warm enough that the heated grips were all that was needed to keep the chill away. It was just one of those Rides that's great to get in this late in the season! Even did a little two tracking.

Had a friend that had a place in Townsend (long been sold) and we would go up on the weekends and tare up the back roads and snowmobile trails with the dirt bikes. we would even go out the day before and ditch gas cans so we didn't have to turn around and go back for more fuel.

One time i was running the railroad grade along 32 at full throttle and the rod bearing let go by Wabino. friend had to ride back and get his van to pick me up.

In the early 80's the ski hill in Lakewood built a MX track on the hill and ran races for a year or two.

Haven't been up that way in years.

Ahh the good old days.

So today's forecast was 35f stiff wind out of the north with scattered snow squalls. Perfect dual sport weather Lol Took the Husky out for a ride on a mix of county gravel roads and ATV trails that were freshly groomed Thumbsup It was a couple hour ride and covered 56 miles. And of course it snowed Smile.http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o117/Hinterlan/DSC01332.jpghttp://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o117/Hinterlan/DSC01334.jpghttp://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o117/Hinterlan/DSC01335.jpghttp://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o117/Hinterlan/DSC01336.jpghttp://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o117/Hinterlan/DSC01337.jpghttp://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o117/Hinterlan/DSC01338.jpghttp://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o117/Hinterlan/DSC01339.jpghttp://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o117/Hinterlan/DSC01340.jpg             Got a Lil carried away with the pic's there Rolleyes

Well winter is officially here. got caught in a shower in Lake in the hills and it was sleeting for about 5 minutes then the sun came out. stopped at the Java planet for a warm mocha and watched another shower move through. on the way home i thought i was clear but it was not to be. rode in the rain from Barrington to home.

It was a little brisk when I left this morning, but a good day to ride.  These are from some of the local state parks.

It was 60+ out by Starved Rock.  It was a great day but on the way home, I got stopped for doing 45 in a 30.  Cop asked me if my record was clean and if I had any warrants out on me. I'm clean and no warrants I said. He let me off with a warning. I said thank you and was on my way. Bigsmile

I not only rode (yest), I got to ride with EaglesWings!! It was our first time riding together. (sniff...  smile... smirk)

First I rode her bike to the high school parking lot.  Took some pics and watched her ride a bit.
I gave her a few 'exercises' to practice.  She skidded the rear tire doing 'panic stops' and scrapped a foot-board doing circles.  I'm so proud of her.  Stalled a cpl times, but didn't drop it.
Then she rode it to my house and I got on the Ninjr.  We took back roads to the ball-park (Miller Stadium).  Man, there are a LOT of stop signs on the back roads.
Very nice riding around the park.  Almost no traffic - more geese than traffic.  One guy that followed us for a bit for some reason...   Nice empty, curvy 4 lane road w/ a round-a-bout and just a cpl stop signs.  A wide variety of tightness of curves too.
For some reason she goes faster when she's in front...
Man it got dark early.  And quick!   And then it got cold quick!

Yesterday was a wonderful day (with heated gear) with a high of 54 and low of 28 on my way home after 350 miles and a couple beers with the boys.  Need to give a shout out to my friends who rode yesterday without heated anything on naked bikes.

Thanks Hun, I do appreciate your advice and patience. Skidding the tires in the "panic stops" scared me a bit  OMGOMGOMG, but at least I kept it upright and when I scraped the floorboard I was quite proud of my 360 degree turns  and figure-eights .
Look forward to many more rides together and with the group next year when I am even more confident on the main roads again.
