That looks really good... the anticipation has been driving me bonkers.

Am I the only one who wants to shake the hand of the guy who picked that song for the trailer? Really adds some dimension.

Looks like it will be good.   I just wish they'd chosen to do something other than the usual Z movie stick (hero wanders around looking for _whatever_ ).

But really... what else could you do when the dead are massing and you turn into one if bitten?

If I knew that I'd sell it to Hollywood for a million billion bucks.

I made the mistake of downloading 60+ issues of the original comic...

I see why they  thought it had enough depth for a series. But it's so dark and joyless... I'm not sure that I'd want to watch it... There are no winners, even in the short run the writer wasn't' one to give more than a momentary lapse of hope. It was VERY depressing, and still came down to the living being more dangerous than the dead.

No spoilers...

I just got done watching it.  I thought it was pretty good.  Definitely not low budget, it stayed pretty true to the comic so far. The characters are likable, and well cast for their parts.  It sure beats the usual dribble that passes for TV nowadays.

I give it two thumbs up.  Thumbsup Thumbsup

I really liked it.  Thumbsup Thumbsup Thumbsup

I thought that his revisiting the crawler after getting his shit together was awesome. That moment really showed that (it seems) the zombies in this are more tormented and pathetic than evil.

Really good.  Thumbsup

Very close to the original comic. It reinforced to me that Kirkman must have had some directing experience... or at least understood the whole storyboard and cinematography process. There's no way that it was sheer luck that his storytelling transmitted so seamlessly to live action.

I could simply repeat many of your comments.  I liked it alot- and I agree about the tormented vs. evil thing.  I am plenty geeked for the rest of the show.

They call it a six-part miniseries- is that it?  I thought it was going to be a series (I know- how far can you go?)?

I was unimpressed.

The production quality was good, its amusing to see this region "zombiefied".  But as I thought, the story is pure cliche all the down to the love triangle between the central character, best friend/co-worker, and wife.  Next we are borrowing a few pages from Stephen King and going to have the living turn on each other and otherwise act like unrealistic dumbasses in the name of drama.

So you read the book I take it? It was fairly formulaic, but with a few unexpected twists. I wonder how far they're really going to take it (since the series was up to #60 or better now).

Yeah, I looked at the first few.  I don't like they way they did the opening intro.  What worked in the comic translated into a lot of wasted screen time ("OK, we know the flowers are dead, time has passed. move along....").

Did you notice the Toyota Zombie tie in?  I don't know about you, but the very LAST car I would want to drive around in during the Z apocalypse would be a freakin' Corrola/Camry.  Should'a picked the FJ Cruiser, they would sell boatloads of them to insecure middle-aged white guys by showing them how much ammo and their survival crap it can hold.   Lol

I liked it too.  It's six episodes but I read on Shock Til You Drop that AMC has greenlit a second season.
