Well, since ST.N Region 4 trackday would not be the same without Breadman, I talked to Motovid and we moved the date to June 8th!

Start planning, I will have discount codes sometime end of Jan, pricing same as last year, $150

The hunt for a reasonably competent track bike shall continue...

If anyone wishes to lend one (for a fee, of course) for the day, let me know what you have and we can discuss terms.  Even if your beater is up for sale, let me know.  I am half-heartedly shopping for a track bike or a track-capable bike to use on the street also for around $2,500.

I'm with you Kris. The next time i hit the track it's going to be on something a little more sport oriented.

Yeah, Ed.  It was kind of a novelty to go on the track with the FJR, and it was my only option.  I feel as though there's nowhere left to progress on that track, given the FJR's limitations.  I really am looking forward to another track day, but on a better bike for the job.

what a coincidence!  my track only 2002 R6 is for sale, I selling it equally half-heartedly Smile  could be a match from heaven! Smile

at this time, it has brand new unpainted plastics, after a gentle lowside I had at the track at the end of the season, so it doesn't look pretty with primed, non painted skin, however it's prefectly fine mechanically. the only thing I need to finish is to replace the exhaust as it suffered in that same lowside, I already purchased used FMF can, just need to install it. It has been jetted, and runs very strong, I was reaching 165 mph on the end of the straight of Road America and could of gone faster, if not my limited skills. Bike is fully prepped for the track, it has penske double clicker shock and penske reworked forks, dialed for a 200 lbs rider by a track suspension guru, it has engine case protectors on both sides, vortex frame sliders, vortex clipon bars with woodcraft clamps, vortex rearsets, steering damper, shorty pazzos, fully safety wired, has a catch canister, water wetter in the radiator - ready to go and pass the tech for any organization, comes with stands, extra set of wheels, bucket or spares, including spare radiator, set of rain tires, only one track day on Pilot Race tires.  you can have it all for .... 2500 Smile

this is a great low cost track platform, but factor in mandatory suspension upgrade, for your build, stock suspension on SV650 will be absolutely not good for track riding, you will need at the minimum, GSXR shock and front end swap, or go for penske on the back and racetech or some other redone internals in the fork. That bike is suspended too soft even for a 160 lbs rider on the track.

Good luck with your search, I suggest check NESBA and WERA forums, if you want track bike, buying street bike, will require at least another 1K to turn it into proper track bike, much cheaper to buy a track prepped bike.

I would not call it a mandatory thing. one of the control riders from omaha was riding aroudn on an early model SV with not all that stuff and he was wicked fast.

do you think a ZX-14 could do a track day?
it's big and heavy and not built for the twisty's, what do you think?

I did a track day on a ZX-14.  It was a hoot.  The bike will perform way better than you think.
