After waiting 140 days for my license I took delivery of my brand new PPQ

you can't just pick out something, pay for it, and take it home?

He's in New York.  He's lucky he even got one at all.

When I was in North Carolina they had pistol purchase permits.  You couldn't purchase a pistol witout one but I think max time the state had to get it back to you was 30 days and it usually only took a few.

I'll never make my home in a state so screwed up I as a law abiding citizen have to get a permit from the state just to purchase a damn firearm.

Discussed a few pages back.  Legally they can take a full 6 months to issue license.
Technically, I waited 141 days.

While 'technically' for the wife's use, I just kinda like it for a compact pea shooter. We're both more likely to shoot .22 than .32 anyway.

The PPQ is sweet.  Everything they say about the trigger is true.

I'll be buying a sig sp2022 next week.

That's a Sig SP2022 on the left, Walther PPQ on the right.  Both 9mm.
Everyone raves about the trigger on the Walther but the Sig is very impressive.  The slide is much heavier so it's not snappy at all.  The trigger releases at that perfect spot to fire again.  Mine came with those 2 dot over/under sights which i'm not liking at all.  I shoot low with the Sig about 4" or so (Yes-Im using combat hold).  I found some Sig night sights on Ebay and bought them yesterday.  
For $390 shipped I have a Sig.  Not bad.

This is typical 10 yards with the PPQ.
   
I tend to shoot low and to the left slightly.  
I think I need to stop thinking and just shoot.  When I just blast off rounds I tend to shoot well.

You may be increasing your squeeze on the grip with your bottom three fingers when you pull the trigger. That will cause you to pull down and left (for right handed shooters).

try this while dry firing and you will see what I mean. cure it with slow dry firing.

I think you are correct.  I do flinch from time to time but pay attention enough to catch myself.  I think i'm tightening my hand (particularly my left hand) as i'm squeezing the trigger.

Establish your grip first. Plant the gun into your shooting hand  with your other hand then maintain that grip. Trigger finger operates independently, as if it's own entity, and not a part of that hand.
Double action triggers are more difficult to master than a single action trigger. Start "rolling" the trigger back, back, and pretend that you don't know when the trigger will break the shot.

Nice new Sig.  Looks like you're really embracing this carry permit.  

I like to practice double or triple taps with my Sig, DA to SA, or DA, SA, SA.  This is the most difficult thing to get used to when operating any DA/SA for the first time and most important if you decide to carry it daily.  Enjoy.

The usual system for decocking is the "walk or talk" method...if you are going to move or communicate (or do anything else that puts a cognitive layer between you and assessing and engaging a target), you should probably be decocking.

For this reason I have never really warmed up to TDA guns - the first SA shot always throws me - but I do know some people that get excellent performance out of them, and my wife primarily shoots a West German 226.
