Perhaps you could try a dual compound tire.  The hard center deals well with straight commuting miles while the side are nice and sticky for the weekend.

I don't have a normal job, so I my "commuting" is never the same route...sometimes it's city traffic and sometimes highway.  Either way, riding makes my commutes a blast.

I have 2 part time jobs, both of which are within 5 minutes of my home on city streets.  Putting on the gear and then changing into wingtips when I get to either workplace becomes a hassle.

Although, I do still "commute" the long way whenever I can   Lol Thumbsup

I live in Colorado and I commute about seven monthes a year, when the ice melts. I do about 50 miles a day on a 1983 honda magna 750. I love it there is no better stress relefer in the world. Well there is one better, but its hard to have sex on your commute home, so i guess i'll just ride.

My commute ...1 mile ...Since getting my bike in Dec I've put $10 of gas in  my car ...it has sat for so long that the rear brake shoes were stuck , I had to gun it and rock the car back and forth to break them free when I had to drive it last night,,, Razz . The only time I don't ride is when its a total down pour or its cold enough for ice to form on the road , I don't have rain gear for cycling so I used the rain gear I wear when working on the bay ... I put over 30K on my last cycle in 3 years, mostly commute miles, and when it's yr only bike it's absolutely hair-raising how fast they stack up. EEK!   I def want to keep the VFR as a commuter and not put the miles on the "new" (2000) Sprint.  Inlove Really, I'm not wealthy, but it doesn't cost that much to keep a cheap older Honda on the road for the purpose.

I used to have a positively spectacular 30-mile commute through back roads west of Ann Arbor; decent roads, and truly lovely countryside. I miss it, kind of, although now I'm in Texas and can commute basically year-round; my current commute is 20 miles, all highway/urban, and I find it...uninspiring. But--I'd rather ride it than drive it, so long as it's at least 40F and not pissing rain.

My GL-1200 is my default commuter vehicle.

Dunlop Elite 3s handle the job quite well and maintain their profile longer than sport-touring tires do.

I do an hour each way on nice days and even take the extra 30-40 minutes by taking the little back roads between DC/Annapolis and Baltimore.  Yeah you have to slab it to get through Baltimore but it is the ride that makes the end of the day that much better.

Near daily moto-commuter here, but would prefer not too.

My commute is 30 miles, one-way. Mornings, are a breeze due to light traffic. Going home, I have to deal with the notorious southern California  stop-n-go traffic. If it were not the ability to split lanes, I would be driving a car.

Call me a wussy, but I don’t do it in the wet, not worth the extra risk….it’s risky as it is.

I don’t consider commuting fun or relaxing (probably the exact opposite) but I probably save on the average of 4-5 hours per week in commuting time by riding the bike. To me, it’s worth it….gas money savings is just gravy.

I commute 30 miles a day, each and every day.

My Jeep hasn't gone anywhere in like 1.5 years due to a cake-walk winter this past year.
Dead battery, flat front tire. Hopefully it'll run again if and when I need it to.  Bigsmile

Finally back to commuting again.  90 miles round trip.  The first and last 5 are twisty through rolling farms which helps with the tires.  There is also something very theraputic about having cows be one of the last things you see on your commute home.  When the babies are out and running around bucking and kicking, there's not much that does more for my mood.

After that bit, I can either do highway the whole way or go 4 or 5 miles longer and roll through Howard County horse country and see how the other half lives.  Beautiful ride.  Either way, it's nice to be back on the bike even if it's commuting.  I don't care about tire wear.  Pay to play.

I've been doing a 57 mile one way for over three years. But that decreased to 25 miles recently following divorce/separation.  I miss the saddle time, but not the commute time.  Did it in all weather except snow/ice. Only month I haven't made the trip on the VFR is January (missed my chance in2012).  Tires and miles are the price I (willingly) pay for sanity...commuting sucks.

Commute through a large part of the year. Found myself a nice route that avoids the 405 slab and has some nice twisty roads...

Helps after a rough day at work Bigsmile

I ride 75 miles a day through the Colorado mountains to work almost every day I can.  The pass keeps the ties rounded and it is really the highlight of my day.  The only part better is getting home to my wife and kids, although the bike teens to extend my commute on particularly nice days.  Bike has already paid for itself just in fuel savings.

200 miles and by the Lord it is getting a wee bit dull. Even ducking twist cars at 130mph.

200 miles a day on Euro highways?

I think Papa's our new King of Commute these days.

Yes, I'm sure the Trophy is perfect for that, with a very similar comfort, storage and ugliness level to my Connie.  Thumbsup

probably a tad more power though in the Trophy.
