New to sport touring

Finally registered on the site and I thought I would introduce myself. I've spent the last six years riding super sport 600s (first a CBR600F4 then a GSXR) and loved them. However, in the last couple of years I've begun to hate city riding and longed for the open highway. I quickly learned that a super sport is not the best option for a three hour highway ride and began looking for something a little better for touring. As luck would have it some very nice elderly woman decided she did not need to look where she backed up and totalled my GSXR. Accidents happen, she was nice enough to leave a note and insurance paid my what I wanted for the bike. So now I'm just doing some research on sport touring rides until the snow melts. I found this site while looking for more information on the 2011 Ninja 1000, which is at the top of my list at the moment.

Welcome to the forum! I have been eying the Ninja 1000 myself. I don't know if you can get a more balanced bike than that for that kind of money.
