Nope...somewhere along the way this guy develops a hard-on that FJR's should not be called a Sport-Touring bikes! The real beauty of that is...he has no reputation for being any kind of rider at all! It would be different if he was an experianced rider. This is classic poser stuff, a keyboard rider! And he does lots of it!

Smaller , no .. lighter  yes .

a nice carbon fiber frame and wheels , and body , lighter exhaust .. ..of course the price would be as much as a Harley then...

If a FJR were lighter, it would be a Sprint ST.

I voted 'probably' but only because there wasn't a button for 'no'.  Most bikes feel too small and cramped to me.  My FJR feels just about right.  Is it heavier than it needs to be?  Yep.  Is it more touring and less sport?  Definitely.  But I really don't care if it can go head-to-head with a GSX-R1000 or an R1.  If I wanted that, I'd buy one of those. It's a great touring machine with reasonably good handling and plenty of power and it fits me.  I really don't care about what the rest of the world thinks of it- they're not riding my bike, I am.

I think the FJR is a great touring bike.  It would be sportier if it were lighter.  Then again, so would I.

You are just jealous because the FJR is a better ST than your XX/Sprint/VFR.

Everyone is missing the real question. If it was lighter would it be as durable and bulletproof as it is now?  This year I've seen two FJRs with over 100K miles on them for sale. I haven't seen any other bikes with that kind of mileage on them for sale in this category. (Goldwings are NOT Sport-tourers).....

I took one out for a test ride recently and after being on a VFR it felt biggie-sized. I'm sure I would get used to it, it just seemed like a marked increase in size.

I like my FJR and I am only 5'8". I guess most sport touring bikes would be large for me.

I would love to see an FJR, or Honda St as a 750.  For me, I really do not need the power the bigger motors (even if I do have a 1200 bandit) offer and do not plan on any 2up touring.  The lighter weight, better mileage and cheaper insurance would be great.

I would think this would be as close as I found thus far. It is 400lbs. and is capable of runnin g across the country, bags up with as much storage, and I have a windscreen that does a hell of a job getting the air off my chest.

Did you fill the frame with helium?  Yamaha lists it at 470 pounds without the 60 pounds of bags and racks I see on there.
