Buell 1190RS superbike breaks cover [MCN]

Erik Buell Racing has finally given us a complete look at the new 1190RS sportsbike which will be shown in public this weekend in America.
The bike promises to be the first new road-legal machine produced by the innovative designer, Erik Buell, since parent company Harley-Davidson pulled the plug on Buell Motorcycles at the end of 2009.
It should be more than a match in terms of performance for the likes of the Ducati 1198 and KTM RC8R.
Soon after, Buell left Harley and founded Erik Buell Racing to hand build race-only machines as the terms of his departure prevented his manufacture of road going Buells for a period of 12 months. That stipulation has now, however, expired.
Developed with help from former MotoGP riders Jeremy McWilliams and Alex Barros, as well as a host of top US racers, the 1190RR track machine boasts an explosive power-to-weight ratio, weighing in at just 164kg and making 185bhp and 93ftlb of torque at the rear wheel.

At least it does not have a Harley engine, a real chance of being a performance bike.

The Firebolt/Lightning/Uly with the Thunderstorm engines....those are not performance bikes. Neither are the 1125R and 1125CR. Nope. They all have Harley engines.

Ironic that this is the Ducati that was chastised for its styling, but somehow brad can find beauty in it. Yet Brad won't STFU about the styling off the 1125/1190 bikes?

I never said one thing
anywhere
negative about the 1190
, in another thread you will see I would have bought it.

the only parallel i draw between the two bikes is the over under headlight. The buell, sure if there were an extra 50k to drop on it, why not. The Duc...

Update this morning from EBR:
1190RS Production and Availability Update
All testing has gone extremely well, and the 1190RS will be a very sweet bike when it becomes available. Power, weight, emissions, noise - all are beating our targets.
We have been talking to a number of great dealers who will be taking on the EBR line and hope to be able to announce the initial dealer network soon. If you would like information on purchasing an 1190RS, including reserving an order spot, please e-mail:
info@ebracing.com
For the price of a top of the line minivan you can own a piece of true technical artisanship, one that would definitely be considered performing art! Beautiful to look at, even more beautiful to be riding!
------------------------
Pretty impressive if you ask me - sounds like they're going to come in at under $40k

You are better off asking that question in BWB or better yet, Robb Report Magazine.
There's probably less then 10 Buellers posting in here at any one time.

A Bimota DB7 is $39k.
A Tesi 3D is $37k.
A Roehr is $40k.
HD Electra Glide Ultra Classic is $36k
HD Street Glide is $30k
Big Dog Bull Dog is $40k
Can Nam Spyder RT-S is $25k
Fully Loaded Honda Gold Wing pushes $27k
Fully Loaded BMW R1200GS pushes $22k
Clearly there is no shortage of expensive bikes.
How much is a Wakan or a Wraith?
And that Ducati Desmocedici with the V4? $75k wasn't it?

They're only making about 100 of these, half for the U.S. I suspect they'll all sell. Supposedly, an Amsoil sponsored 1190RS will be racing at Infineon in May.
At $40k, I doubt I'll ever throw a leg over one. I'm more interested in seeing the next EBR models that are already in development.
