I got mine for less than $15k OTD with the bags. ...maybe not a screaming deal, but fair. The bike is awesome; no regrets at all!!!
If you could find one for $12k OTD, that *would* be a screaming deal!!!
Gee I know that bike and Picture.

The bike's so clean on a dirt road!
I saw one at the local Honda dealer and the paint is amazing. No wonder Honda was bragging about how smooth it is
He just pulled in off the highway 10 feet in the other direction and turned it around
But yeah, that is a superb shot

I signed up to test ride one of these last Saturday. The ergo was so bad (sport bike like) for my 6'2" frame that I jumped on a GS1200 instead. The VFR is made for women, children, and tiny men.

The ergos are bad only if you don't want to lean over for whatever health related reasons.
I'm fine with that position and prefer it over the sit up and beg for fast riding.

Yeah, there are plenty of people that can't handle sit up and beg for health reasons as well...

There was a time when the VFR riding position was the standard for that class. BMW actually used it extensively and the VFR continues to use it. It's in keeping with the type of riding the bike is meant to be used in.
What's funny is some people think the C14 riding position is also too sporty even though it is already relaxed compared to a VFR800.
I do think referring to it as a "bad" riding position is a misnomer.

You ride a Harley and ST. Your basis of comparisson is skewed a bit.

Honda does clasiffy both the VFR800 and VFR1200F as a Sport Bike.
I haven't checked out a VFR800 in person yet but I really want to see one in person and sit on it.

Their riding positions are almost identical.
Trust me when I say, they are nowhere near as sporty ANY sportbike out there. I think the rise is at least 5"+ compared to those bikes. Definitely not upright but not anywhere low down either.

Yup, it's all relative. Before the VFR I had a Yamaha R6. The VFR is luxurious in comparison.

Yes, I do have bikes that I don't have to lean onto my wrists to ride. But I wasn't comparing them to my current bikes.

Amen to that, my '06 cbr1000rr was truly uncomfortable on long rides. VFR 800/1200 is a much better traveling bike. The new 1200 is really quite a nice bike, fast, shaft drive, wind protection.

I sat on one today. Not bad. It was $14.5K.
The $12K one above is used in Texas with only several hundred miles...don't remember exactly.
Any other price reports of $12K VFR1200s or is this an isolated case?

$12K gets rid of all the issues I had with the bike!
IMO it's a screaming deal at that price level.

The Vespa forums, bless their little hearts, are populated with questions like "is it ok to use my front brake?"
(FYI the answer is yes...

I agree - 12k is a strong pricepoint for that bike. Unfortunately, the momentum that the VFR1200 had is gone due to the initial sticker-shock. Folks aren't shopping, which is really a shame for the dealers...because that's a heck of a bike for 12k.

They would probably interest even more people if they would bring them over in multiple colors. I really don't understand why they only offer the red option in the US and White and Silver in Europe. Not that that is a major deciding factor for most bike purchases but I have to admit I am not a fan of single color production models.
