If interested, below is a link to pictures and a brief description of my Talldragger style auxiliary fuel tank install on my 2007 Yamaha FJR.

This is my second installment of my How To: Long Distance Motorcycle.  It has taken me longer than expected to post due to my focus on preparing for the 2011 Iron Butt Rally.

Well engineered. This whole IBA idea is a little foggy to me, but enjoy, nonetheless.

Very nice, well thought out and executed.  I'm a gravity feed guy, but it does sacrifice passenger space.

If you see my bike on a trailer, it's been stolen!

It was too scary for me to drill a hole in a stock tank.
Here's how I did mine:  http://www.sport-touring.net/forums/index.php/topic,54366.0.html

I bought a wrecked tank to practice mounting my bulkhead fitting in, and so I could get the perfect spot.  I paid $40 for the smashed tank and it was well worth the piece of mind.

What's the "Aux on for 10 mins" mean?

So if you get hit from behind not only will you have whiplash, you'll burst into flames as well?  Headscratch

I haven't been hit from behind but I have been down twice with my old plastic Jaz cell on the bike with no fires.  Now with an aluminum cell I don't see why it would be any different than a stock metal tank.

It is just a reminder that I need to leave the aux fuel pump on for 10mins to complete fuel transfer.  I currently have a manual on/off transfer system.  I have considered installing a timer circuit but this adds another potential failure mode.
