I have.

I used the cable and the software to reset my TPS for my XB12R.  It works.

I didn't use it to re-do any fuel mapping though.

does the software have preset fuel maps or do you have to customize them yourself?  I'm all for squeezing more from the ECM but not if it means i'm going to ACTUALLY program it instead of pushing a button that says "go faster".

Sorry Steve, I don't know.  It's been a few years since I used mine.

Did you look into Erik Buell Racing ECM's?  Those have pre-programmed maps to help your specific Buell run better, stock or modified.

I have used it to do TPS reset as well as remap my '07 STT (felt like a badass Lol) and it worked great, but I believe the newer XB's had a different ECM which could not be tuned...

I recommend searching ECMSpy on badweatherbikers.com and BuellXB.com

Feel free to PM me for any maps or limited tech support I can provide.

Cheers

I bought mine from this guy.  He included stock and race fuel maps on a CD along with a tuning guide, but I am just using it for TPS resets.

Mine is on the brown truck to be delivered tomorrow - I don't have a heated workspace so I'll wait until the weather warms up a bit before I fit it.  Comments on badweb from those who have the EBR ecm are usually glowing: the big advantage seems to be the elimination of EPA "inspired" lean-mixture-induced hesitation.

I have an EBR ECM on my 1125CR it was an immediate improvement over stock, better fueling in the lower RPM range without surging, better mid-range throttle response and more power everywhere. With the increased fueling it also ran cooler, and of course the bad news, lower MPG. I went from 38 to 32 MPG with a 160 mile range per tank.

Same here except,  my MPG slightly improved with the EBR ECM.

Another thing I noticed is that the high RPM vibes have been reduced quite a bit.  Stock, it seemed like it wanted me to shift around 7-8k.  Now it's smooth up to the redline.

Tpoppa, how easy is it to install a new EBR ECM?

Just pop the old one out and put the new one in?  I don't want to get one and risk getting an error code somehow when I put the new one back in.

Yes.  Pull the right pod cover, two screws to remove the ECU, R&R.  I swap mine back in when I go to the dealer for service, just on general principle.

It did fix a number of fuelling issues, but not all (and introduced/moved some of it's own).  They can also address a number of other things such as the display and slipper clutch sensitivity, but those choices are not at all well documented on their site, so research is indicated.

What new issues did you have?

I should mention that my bike is stock excpet for the EBR ECM.

Thanks Kevin.

Mine is a completely stock '08 R.  I just want to smooth out the below-4k-RPM response (it's a bit raggedy going from closed throttle to opening up and powering away).  The aforementioned above 8k RPM smoothness would be welcomed.

It moved a 5K surge down to 4.5K, and made it noticeably worse.  I did this in conjunction with buying a non-cat stock muffler, since their tune at the time was developed with no cat.  It has ended up being an incremental improvement, but if I had to do it again I probably wouldn't - or I'd go whole hog and get the reprogrammable one.  As a second bike for me it isn't a big enough issue to chase.

Gotcha.  Thanks.

I have the stock exhaust with the EBR ECM for the stock exhaust.  No surging to speak of, but I do have a slight exhaust resonance right at 5k.  I installed some exhaust tips at the same time as the ECM.  I figured it was the tips that caused the resonance, but not 100% certain.
