How are the Bilt boots?  I bought a pair of the Frank Thomas waterproof boots last year and I love them.  Although, the header on my VFR cooked the leather on the right boot and cracked it across the top; luckily the waterproofing is on the inside.  A rep at the Cycle Gear store in Allentown, PA told me Frank Thomas was sold, and Bilt was started by the same guy that started Frank Thomas, which is why Cycle Gear replaced FT with Bilt products.  They seem to be of the same quality and pricing.  I picked up a pair of their heavier waterproof gloves that were on sale, and I like them a lot.

Not on Wednesday. Thumbsup

It was a good ride on some good roads with a disappointing visit to Cycle Gear.

Frank picked up a tank bag for his daughter cheap enough but I will report on the Bilt gear as follows,

You do in fact get what you pay for.

Whoever asked me about the gloves,

Inexpensive yes but not a whole lot of comfort for a long trip. The seams are abundant.

The Storm Boots originally $100.00 on promotion for 50.00 on sale for 40.00 were just not built to what I would call American Specs. The workmanship is passable the materials are adequate but the construction is all wrong as far as the shape of a foot is concerned.

I wear a size 11/12.

I tried on the 12 the last time I was there and couldn't fit it over my ankle. I figured a 13 would be alright so I ordered a pair. They came in on Monday so off we went. They JUST fit over my ankles well enough but the shape is all wrong. The arch seemed to be to close to the heel. Just plain uncomfortable.

I will be ordering the Tourmasters from New Enough tonight.

Yep, the main reason I thought of that (library) as a meeting place is that I wanted to ride 131W, 197W, and 171W. This is a pretty nice route west.

Some of my favorite roads there, but you should try 31 instead of 131. Far superior in terms of scenery and turns.

Thanks for that advice. I've been on rt 31(don't know it though) and remember it being nice. Mr Black recommended it to me last year I think. After that bunch of roads we took rt 140 (I think) out of Stafford Springs going to Cycle Gear and that was nice also. It's not the Berkshires or the mountains, but there are some nice roads in eastern CT IMHO.
