Jeebus that is a long time. Hopefully they're worth the wait.

Well, they'd said it would be three weeks (and that was four weeks ago), so they're only a week behind schedule.

My wife ordered hers on May 12, which was 5-1/2 weeks ago.  Her latest emails have not gotten responses.   Maybe there is a Mexican holiday.

Rince, interesting thread over on ADV.        http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=622148&page=3

Apparently the company has bitten off more than they can chew.......tremendous response on their offerings.

It seems the general consensus is that quality of these is not an issue.  Thumbsup

Thanks that was funny to read to my wife what the son of the boot sellers said.  It's a real mom and pop (and confused cobbler) operation apparently.  Lol

Today August 26 the Gasolina boots arrived, 3-1/2 months after ordering them.  My wife likes them.  They have an extra layer of leather at the ankles and toes.  They are lined with smooth leather.  I would say they are very retro looking and the feeling is softer where a modern sport touring boot is more rigid leather.  My wife says they are very comfortable, "like an oiled glove."  A modern sport boot offers more protection.  These are the protection level of engineering boots.  They are pretty fashionable, sort of steampunk.

That is a good looking boot and does your wife feel they fit true to the size?

The boots were handmade.  She had to provide three measurement for each foot, so the boots are a custom fit, exactly right.  She thinks they used baby cows because the leather is so soft, and she keeps raving about the smell.  She took a trial ride and said the boots are very supportive.

I was asked to give my wife's long term review of these boots, and if they were worth the long wait period.  She has been wearing them for about one year.  She said:

Yes. Worth the wait they are SO soft, fit like a glove, and are very comfortable. I am a bit of a boot snob, i dont like cheap boots with hollow stiff leather. My one foot is larger than the other so most boots I get are either too big, or cramp one foot. I gave Gasolina several different measurements for each foot. They took about 3.5 months to be hand cobbled. Did I mention that the insides of the boots are ridiculously soft leather? I imagine they are from baby cows fed only the greenest of grasses from a sun drenched hillside.  Mine are the 'classic' style with the shifting pads on the toes.

I'm hung up on the fact they are not waterproof.  Do you just live with wet feet, or did you treat them?

She doesn't ride in the rain very much if she can help it.  I don't have waterproof boots either.  I use overboot covers if it's raining hard.

Another pic...

I've done a great job avoiding rain.  But, that's easily accomplished with almost 1,000 miles under the belt. Wink

I'll have to check about the overboot covers, I've not thought too much about those.

Those boots are the first accessory I'm ordering if I ever wind up with a Bonneville or Thruxton or some other type of classic or café bike.

They are quite an accurate copy of a very old, and classic boot design, the "showcase" boot being the Lewis Leathers' Motorway boots....and very very expensive.

As far as waterproofness, just oil the shit out of them, keep working the oil in the leather over time. They'll be good in the rain for longer than you think.

Now rains like this year in WVA? Forget it, you'd need overboots to keep them dry.

I had a pair of boots very similar to these, but these were original British Gold Tops Trophy boots. A friend of mine has them now and love them. They felt like a pair of your
favorite sneakers they were so comfortable and well-cut to the foot.

I'm glad Mrs. Rince likes the boots, they look good on her too.

With my birthday coming up, I mentioned that I needed new boots.  My wife immediately said Gasolina.  Now that I see they make a shorter version, I can't imagine a better boot to order.
