Generally speaking, Saturday is the day to ride all the great local roads up in the Eureka/Fortuna area. 36, Happy Camp, Lost Coast - all great rides.
Here's your chance to sign up to lead a ride!
I'll lead the Lead the Lost Coast Loop!
Figure a 10am start time.

I'm thinking about 36 out to 3 and dropping in to Hayfork for lunch. On out 3 to 299 and Weaverville and 299 returning to Funtuna.

I like the sound of this loop. I rode it on Friday at my last WCRM.
I'm not doing the Lost Coast loop again. After riding it during my first WCRM I've said I'm not doing it again, but I always do it again. This time I'm not riding the Lost Coast loop! I mean it.

I was thinking along the same line. Only coming back over Hayfork summit to 299 taking the cutoff road to FS road1 back to 36

The FS isn't paved, is it? I think that 299, 3, 36 loop is best done clockwise to get the boring section of 299 near Eureka out of the way early.

All roads are paved and it cuts out the boring section's of 299, 101 back to Fortuna.

I haven't been on it for a while, but for a FS road it's usually in pretty good shape.
Look like anyone we know?

What? No takers for Lost Coast?
I'm very sure we can shave 7 minutes off the previous time... A 1:53 loop should be comfortably doable.

Look, I'm not going on the Lost Coast Loop unless I can do it on a liter sportbike again.
From experience, I can tell you that the Yamaha R1 is the tool for that rutted goatpath that's in many places more patches than pavement. The lush, long-travel suspension soaks up the bumps and the lofty upright perch gives a commanding view of the "road" ahead. Brilliant.
