Was at my local dealer on Saturday morning and they had one of these on the floor - looked like a customer special order waiting for pick up. Was a pretty nice piece of eye candy I must say.

However, I noticed under the tail section there were two tubes with fans in them, anyone know what exactly these are for? Are they just for cooling or something else?

They are triples.  I think the early versions were 900cc but I think they've grown since then.  Italian brand bought out by a chinese scooter company.  I don't think they can stack up against current super sports for handling and power, but man, do they look cool.

rofl

Thankfully there's the internet. Whatever parts were ever made are somewhere, probably a warehouse in Italy or in the back of a shop in France.

Beautiful...what else is there?

No seriously, they had teething problems with fuel metering and electrics that were never totally sorted out...I saw one (green and Silver) at road atlanta the year they came out and if they'd have been able to fix them, I'd own one right now...

The Tornado sounded so sweet at WSB Laguna with Peter Goddard at the controls. Arrow 3 into two exhaust. NOTHING in the entire field sounded so nice.  Bigok  Inlove

Too bad they were 100cc under the limit (back then), and no money for development. There was a rumour for a two-bike team in WSB the following year, but that quickly unravelled.

They are 1130ccs now, so not eligible for competition, unless they got a break for being only a 3 cylinder, like Ducati gets for being a twin.

But don't hold your breath. Plus the chassis is dated, so unless Benelli made a whole new bike, got an exemption for displacement from the governing body, and brought lorries full of cash to run a full team for a couple of years, well..........

Being a boutique bikemaker, owned by a Chinese scooter company, it ain't gonna happen.
