Customs had four folks to clear an entire two overseas flights and I had one hour for my connecting flight. Needless to say, I'm still at O'Hare waiting to get out. Next flight is a 7:35 that is already showing delayed 30 minutes. I may get home today. Been up since 4am Frankfurt time, which is 10pm here. Yeah, I'm cranky now.
As to the TSA comment, I had the full luggage and pat down trying to get in to my missed flight. Asswipes claimed because I had an insulated coffee mug in my carry-on that they had to check everything. Guy asked me if I thought that was a reasonable search. That was a bad move on his part.

Tom, if for some reason you don't make the flight you know where there is a spare bed.

Just an update on travel plans for the next one. It'll be happening in May, 2012. The wife decided we'll do warm and dry this fall, so it's a cruise from LA to the western shores of Mexico for 7 days. If this overtime continues, I may sneak a week in before that.

Great write-up! I was back in the Dolomites for the 2nd time this summer, and it's truly the best riding on earth. Love your line about "hairpins so tight you can read your own license plate" - so true!

A very late reply, but then, I'm not on here all that often.
I'm glad you had a great time and got to experience Euro touring. I hope you get to go back for more.

All I'll say is - this is F****** fantastic riding.
Its hard to make a believer out of riders until they've gone to ride there. The riding is so damn good that I haven't put a single kilometer/mile on my local motorcycle in two years. I get my fill every summer while on my six-week tours in Europe and the Alps that I don't miss not riding locally.
BTW, I saw your Maikammer pic. I drove through that town in the beginning of July on my ride to have lunch at Johanniskreuz on the B48 at the L499.
