On trips I bring it - the plug kit would be useless without it  Lol

I only carry a compressor when I am doing the dual sport thing, so I can air my tires up and down. Otherwise I carry a bicycle pump all the time. Especially on tour. I know the hand pump will be a pain should I need it, but I just dont have the space available for the pump.

That and my tool kit. The tool kit lives under the seat, the tire repair kit/compressor lives in the tank bag. I occasionally do short rides without tire kit, but I never ride without my tools.

I pack the worm type plugs and a "fuel" compressor i got at walmart. All those Chinese compressors use the same compressor anyway with a different body.

On my old Bandit i ripped the pump out of the plastic case and mounted it under the seat with a custom made hose that would reach both tires. It went with the bike when i sold it cause it was hard mounted.

I don't leave the garage without my tire repair kit. You can get a flat anywhere.

Ditto on this.

I always have a few sticky string plugs and insertion tools under the seat with the tool kit.  That's about all there is room for under there.  On trips I always have my Slime pump in the hard bags.  I've used it a time or two.

Just wondering what the poll will show....I rarely use it on the road.

Garry and I went on a three-day ride in WVa and VA the past weekend, he brought his compressor so I didn't have to.  Like rain gear or the spare belt for the Uly, just having it works good as insurance. If you do get a flat, with sticky string and a pump you can be back on the road in ten minutes  Thumbsup

If I were to vote "always", that might cause others to question why I have 3 compressors...

I normally just take the tire repair kit and compressor on trips.  I'll call roadside assistance for other issues closer to home.

On my FJR I do.  On my Shadow RS I don't. The FJR has tubeless tires so I have a small compressor and string-thing tire patch kit under the seat.  The other bike has tubes and no luggage.

I just ordered a slime compressor for like $17. Man, at that price, and that small size, it's hard to justify not carrying one along.

I'll be installing a "cigarette lighter" (remember when cars used to have those?) / power plug on the bike shortly thereafter. I figure it'll come in handy for a variety of things.

On trips I do carry a tire repair kit with the tiny compressed air canisters

you might want to give airing your tire back up with those a try and see what happens.

I only needed it once. Its cheap insurance and it saved me that one day.  Most of the roads I ride on are miles from any towns.  I use a battery tender that attaches to the bike with a sae plug. I made a plug in for the compressor that plugs into that connector. Easy to use, small and cheap.  Basic tools, tire plug kit and compressor on every ride.

typically CO2 cartridges for anything local, but on long trips I bring both CO2's and a compressor.

Slime pumps fits well under my seat so it's always there. Used to carry a mini foot-pump, which is great for topping off but I inflated a flat with it one time and it took forever and I walked funny for a week afterwards.  Bigsmile
