Anyone interested in running up to Cycle-Moore in Interlochen on July 8-10?  I've got a free weekend and am about 3 pounds shy on campfire smoke.  Long range forecast looks good enough.  $5 per person per night makes for a cheap weekend and we can go get the tag Saturday.   Bigsmile

Post up if you're IN:

What?  You know where the damn place is.  Stop and pick up the beer from Clay on your way up.   :pokestick:

I may have a friend coming over from Minneapolis for the weekend on his FJR too.  He's checking with work tomorrow.

I've almost made up my mind to go, just have to work out the logistics with my brother about staying at his place in Algoma on the Thursday and Sunday nights. Breaking it up that way would give me a little extra time to sightsee and enjoy the ride through the UP, among other things.

I would give this some serious thought but I jacked up my left hand and a few days of clutch work may be difficult. Who knows, maybe by next week I'll be golden  Shrug  We'll see.

Tom, are you still going to do this?  Do I need to make a reservation at Cycle-Moore?  I haven't decided if I will drop in at my brother's place or not, but may just camp near Escanaba on the way out & back.

Yes, I'm in. Camp gear is being piled up tomorrow after work for a Friday afternoon departure.  Wink  I need this badly.  No reservations required at Cycle-Moore.  They have plenty of room.  We could hold a National Event there and not run out of space.

Interested, but my son is supposed to be off a plane from Afghanistan then, and I wouldn't miss that for the world. But, he may not get a flight till next week, so I may be free. Won't know until the communication blackout is lifted.

Smile
A man will walk off that airplane, he will be tired, bone weary tired and if the crews that hauled his ass across the Atlantic have anything to do with it, slightly drunk.
give him a day or two to decompress, remember he has to remember how to be a Son again. (enjoy him calling you Sir.)
Congratulations to you and him, enjoy your time together.
if you decide to bring him to the camp out we'd all like to meet him.

Thanks-and will do. Next month I am going to Missouri (Fort Lost-in-the-woods) to visit my other son while he isin the 48 and  doing some training there. Seems this year all my vacation time is being used chasing my kids around the globe. It's all good, but when they get get out, there is going to be one hell of a cross country ride with them.  Bigok

It's going to be a gorgeous weekend in the northern parts.  Highs in the low 80s, lows in the low 60s.  It don't get no better than that!  Come get your dose of campsmoke.

Max, my kid's talking about taking a trip to Singapore to go motorcycle touring.  I told him to call me and let me know when.  I'd go into debt for that one.   Bigsmile

I'm off to pick up the Daytona and start loading stuff.  I'll be leaving Detroit at noon tomorrow if all goes as planned.  We know how that works, so expect me sometime before dark.   Lol  Be good seeing you again, Mark.  It's been a couple years.
.......

Bike is home, bags are on, let the packing begin!  This will be a light load out.  No cooking gear, just sleeping stuff.  All meals will be done at restaurants.  Tent, 60* sleeping bag, travel pillow, tent light, 25' extension cord and power strip, a change of clothes or two, iPad for reading material, charger, ditty bag and camera.  Packing an extra 3 person tent for some stragglers.    NO GPS this trip, no time to install and wire.  No matter, I know all the roads up there.

Beerchug  24 hours to cocktails around a campfire with old friends.

Got back around 12:30 today after spending the night in what could be one of the best mom and pop motel I've ever stayed in.

http://www.main-streetinn.com/

$44 including tax for a single room that was bigger than some doubles I've stayed in.

The tent is drying out in the back yard (naturally, I have never yet come home with a dry tent ready to be put away), my laundry's already done and I am thinking about where I am going on my next ride.

Thanks for setting it up and leading the rides, plus of course the bonus pirate show was not to be missed.

and somehow I ended up with more luggage than I arrived with  Headscratch I guess that's one quick way to lower the bird.

Thanks again Sleazy for leading the ride and definitely for letting Krell and I use your tent. I don't think we would have survived long without it  Bigok

I'm sure "Bonebreaker" or "Roadrash" had some room to share.   Lol

I sure know how to schedule things.  We're currently surrounded by about 100 seriously drunk 1%ers at the campground.   Cool Lol

It sounds like I picked a good time to bug out.  Lol

Seriously tho, I was a great time and I wish I could have stayed another night.  Thumbsup
