Bush is one of the few beers that tastes better out of a can than a bottle.

Agreed.  It was a cold can of beer after a long day of riding.  Not much of a beer selection, or food for that matter, in rural West Virginia.  It seemed like 80% of items in that store had a picture of a pig on the wrapper, but were questionably pork.  That goes for the multiple slim jim knock-offs pictured and the hot dogs in the plastic bag on the right.  I'm glad I had a backpacker meal left...

For next time... The two general stores in Seneca Rocks have a decent beer selection, especially for rural WV.  Thumbsup

That they do, but the 100 miles separating us at dusk proved a significant barrier.  Also, I like Busch beer  Embarassment

If you stay in marlington there is even a local bar with some craft beers on tap.

Well, since there is only one bar in town, and only 3 streets, you can't miss it!  LOL

River Pub.  Super friendly owners, craft beers and cheap food.  The cheese sticks are huge.

I stayed in the town this May and wer called to see how late they were open.  They said 9 (sun night)...and it was about 8:50 at the time.  I said, ok and hung up.  They called me back 10 mins later and asked if we where the guys from NY/CT...i said yes.  And they said they would keep the place open for us.

At the end of the night, i had to force them to take money for my tab.  They just wanted to hang out with us and drink.    Cool

Thanks, the missus and I are headed that way in a couple of weeks. Marlington is a possible stopping point. I will put it on the list.

RE: Old Clarke Inn
Cool place with nice owners. SMALL rooms. Nice to hang out on the porch and BS with other riders.

RE: Good beer
Go to "Liquors and More" on the north end of town (near the "Super Dollar"?) for your best shot at craft beer. They probably will have several varieties of Great Lakes, some Rogue, usual suspect imports, and swill. I actually got a 4-pack of the limited release "Lake Erie Monster" double IPA there on my last trip.

RE: River Inn
Great Lake Burning River pale ale for $3 / pint (tax included). Good stuff. The menu consists of cheese sticks, wings or burgers. All decent, just not much variety.

RE: Greenbrier Inn
Mediocre at best. I won't bother going back after my last visit there in June.

RE: Sixties Cafe in the MMI
Another mediocre at best experience in June. Won't go back aside from the convenience if I'm staying at the MMI

There is a BBQ place just south of town on the right that gets some good reviews. Bull and Bear or something like that. Owner is a stock broker or something. Only open for a few hours each day on the weekends. I will be stopping there on my next visit.
