The week of August 1-5, I will be in Charlotte for a crane inspection certification class.  The class will be during the day & after each day is over, I won't have anything but time on my hands.  I'm planning on riding the bike up & killing the evenings riding around looking at scenery & for food.

I searched Charlotte & saw where someone recommended 181 N of Morganton & depending on what time the class is over, I may give that a try.

Anyone got any other suggestions of places to eat or ride near the Charlotte area?  Thanks in advance

I'm going to ride up to Traphill one day.  Anyone know of any good eats around the North Wilkesboro area?  I'm probably going to ride up to Morganton & ride 181.  I may ride over to Morrow Mountain near Albemarle and someone I know recommended Crowders Mountain near Gastonia but probably won't ride there.

Which side of town are you staying at? 181 is a nice ride, but it may take a bit to get out there, not sure if it's an after work kind of ride. But, on your way home I'd take it, then shoot over west, and ride the Moonshiners 28 back home.

Waxhaw and Weddington have some nice roads, just watch out for cages.... Charlotte has lot's of good food, what do you like?

I'm staying on E Woodlawn Rd.  I'm definitely hitting Brushy Mountain Rd.  I'm going to ride up to N Wilkesboro one day, Morrow Mountain St Park & somewhere another day.  Its going to be blazing HOT but I'll be bored out of my mind.   Smile

I appreciate you suggesting 28.  28 runs all the way to Anderson where I live.  I've ride 28 once a month easily.  I'll be hitting 85 South home when I get out of my training class Friday.  I have two little ones that I'll be wanting to see.  Bigsmile  What are the good roads near Waxhaw & Weddington?  Maybe I could wait until after supper & hit those roads since they're so close as to where I'm staying.

Thanks for the advice & be looking out for a C-14 with South Carolina plates...don't run me over.   Bigok

Hell, your're only 10 minutes from where I live. I'd meet up with you but I'm in MI working.......although, I may be back Thursday, but I'm not sure what time. There's a good place to eat on the corner of South Blvd/Remount called Mac's BBQ, lots of different beers.

To tell you the truth, I'm not sure of any road names out in Weddington or Waxhaw. Maybe Marvin and Waxhaw Indian Trail Rd S? I'm bad with road names.....definitely do 181 though!

Did you do 181?   I saw a report last night that 181 had gravel all over it like someone did it on purpose.

I didn't.  I have an uncle who lives in Moravian Falls NC & the day I was going to ride to Morganton, I rode over to his house.  It was a last minute change.  I was thinking about riding 181 the next time I day ride so thanks for the head's up on the gravel.  If I ride it, I'll definitely let you know.

That report was totally bogus.  Ran it this morning.  No traffic and no gravel.
