FJR VS VFR?

I have a '99 VFR800 with some suspension improvements.  I have been thinking about switching up to an FJR to get more comfort and power but I wonder how the FJR handles in comparision.  I'm not Nicky Hayden but I like to zip through the tight twisties.  Can anyone here make an educated comparison between how the two bikes handle?

I no about both. Have an '08 FJR now, had an '02 VFR for about four years.. The VFR is better for more spirited riding. The FJR excels at longer distance sport touring. I loved the VFR - but it became rather uncomfortable on longer rides (>200 miles/day), The FJR, to me is THE best bike for eating miles, having fun in the sweepers and having all the niceties of a touring bike. Having said that, why not keep your 99 and get the FJR? Then you got the best of both worlds.

VFR and ST owner, If you like tight twistys, marked 35 mph or lower, the VFR rules.

The ST I had was probably the best road bike I ever owned! Perfect for the long trips and high speed sweepers. Needed a better seat though.

The VFR, I just took on a 300 mile trip in the Baraboo hills yesterday and a great friend on a new Connie just couldn't hang in the tighter twistys.

Do both if you can!

I ride an 06 FJR and have no problem riding the tight twisty stuff with it. Im talking mountian switchbacks marked 10 - 20 mph.

My preference has always been to ride the tight technical stuff over the faster sweepers though.

The VFR is more fun, is smoother, and less work to ride. The FJR is more comfortable, bigger, and quite a bit more powerful. Don't mistake this for not being capable though...an FJR WILL haul the mail.

The FJR will give you a work out but can hold it's own in the tight stuff and works great for me when riding 2up, which is mainly what I use it for.

The VFR is a great bike but the Tiger I feel is much better on the less than perfect roads I ride.

The CBR...everyone should ride one of these at least once in their life. The reason I sold it was because every time I pulled out of the garage I would tell myself "you can't get crazy' but I would always pull back in the garage telling myself, "that was crazy"!
God I miss that CBR!!

Right now I have my Feejer and a KLR. It's a great combo, but I think the best stable would include a 600cc sport bike of your choice. Honestly, the VFR plus a FJR would be a nice setup if you can keep both.

I have an FJR, I like it plenty of power, but if you really want to lean it, it will fight you.

I sold my VFR and found a pretty good deal on an 06 FJR. High niles but VERY well maintained. I got to ride a little before the weather turned...I like it so far and believe ill be happy with my decision in the long run

good for you..  The FJR is a very capable Super Sport Touring bike.
