Coffee meet last Sunday, the first one I've made all season, 192 miles of slab to get there.  The GSX1250 FA isn't really turning out to be the long distance bike I was hoping it would be. Talked to a bunch of FJR owners there, RedCBRRider and Prubert were even gracious enough to let me take their FJR's for a spin.  I knew of a lightly used 07 for sale at a dealer in Dubuque.  I asked RedCBRRider what I should do.  I got a simple answer.................

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h266/Jetpilot5/DSC02206.jpg

It has an entire 2779 miles on it, and it cleaned up really well.  Garage queen.

And, it matches my begonias.

Wow, I remember your posts about buying the 1250.

Yeah, I owned that bike just under 90 days, a new record for me Embarassment.  It' just wasn't turning out to be the long distance bike I was hoping for.  I did 593 miles last Sunday and fewer than 100 miles of it was fun, twisty roads.  After all that straight road (over 300 miles of slab) I was beat.  I kind of feel like I'm admitting defeat, but it's time for a bike that's made for 80% of the ride, not 20%.

The GSX is still a cool bike.  Smooth, torquey engine and really great running around locally.

I know of a really nice used one if anyone is looking.

I was there when he went for the test rides.  Thought it was only a matter of time.  Way to go Jetpilot.  That is why I will not try one.  I cannot be assimilated.

As I go to SearchTempest and look for FJR.

Thanks.  Going to hold off on big mods for the rest of this year, probably add a throttle lock though.  It came with the Yamaha bag liners, never used, still new in the package.

Other than a throttle lock, I really don't know what an FJR needs in terms of mods. They are nice bikes. Purpose built for eating up miles. That just wasn't quite my thing when I owned an FJR for about 90 days!

I don't even know....have you taken passengers on your past bikes? That's one thing I thought the FJR would also do really well.

I don't even recall you ever owning an FJR. Confused

I don't ride with a passenger much, my wife went out with me once the entire 5 years I owned the BMW.  It is a more passenger friendly bike though.  Now that both kids are away at school and I have a more comfy motorcycle maybe she'd be willing to go out on it occasionally.

I had picked up a blue '07 back in August of 2010. Low mileage, farkled up and ready to go. My daughter had been saying that she might do some riding with me if I got something that was more comfortable for her. But then she backtracked and never rode with me. I think she's scared. I decided I would spend time with home some other way. In the garage at the time, I also had a dirt bike and my trackbike. I was over-extended on the motorcycles. Now I just have a cheap-o streetbike and a cheap-o trackbike (which is under repair  Sad  ) Nothing was wrong with the FJR if my agenda was doing longer rides. I have to admit, at first I thought it turned like shit, until I realized the previous owner sold it to me with about 20 psi in the tires. Yeah, that makes it turn like a big fat unrelenting pig.
