Maybe if the prototypes were allowed none of the electronics that the riders don't like anyway, and let CRTs have it. That and alteration of the 1000 motors. Maybe a turbo with limited boost?

Yes , but you cannot overcome physical dimensions , like bore spacing , width  and diameter of crank journals , placement of cam drive , etc . Production engines have certain limitations .
On the top of that there is 30 Euro G claiming   for powerplant . There is no fricking way you can build competitive in MotoGP engine for this amount of cash . You cannot even build superbike motor for that amount of cash .

Why would factories spend all those millions for prototype engines if they could instead just modify their production motors and be done with that ?

CRT bikes will make good cannon fodder , they might beat satellite teams here and there from time to time but will not challenge factory bikes .    

Eh.  We were talking to some of the CRT teams about building them engines.  We could have built 250hp motors well within the CRT rules and cost limits.  It wouldn't have been difficult.  Hell, we built a 230hp motor within AMA rules!  It wasn't user friendly, but the changes to make it more so are allowed by the CRT rules (but not the AMA).

The advantage we had over the European engine builders was simply cost.  Exchange rates were t our benefit.  Making the motor strong enough won't be the problem, it'll be keeping the costs down.

No, not really.  The whole deal hinged on financials that were too speculative.  It was all about VAT, transfer taxes, exchange rates, and so on, a lot of which was too unpredictable to get the funding flowing.

Maybe next year.  The business model was sound, but it would have taken a lot to get the ball rolling, and we didn't have the necessary time.

This answer is a definite maybe, but probably not.  Then again, perhaps...


If we do, it'll be a three bike effort, with two AMA racers (one a vet who will ride for cheap, and the other a young guy who will ride for cheaper) and Jeremy will do some WCRM and WERA events as a development rider.  At lead, that's what the discussions have been leading us to.  Unfortunately, our act is far from together, and Seth has been way too wrapped up in real-world issues (like his new job) to get everything pulled together, so right now I'd have to say that it looks like no racing for us next season.

Something needs to be done. It was getting depressing seeing about 12 bikes finish the race.

I still wish for the sliding tire smoking days of the early 990cc bikes though.
