The sound of the engine is awful , I`m guessing it offended some racing Gods because Pedrosa`s motor expired and Honda idled today .
I perfectly understand reasons behind 72 deg angle and Elvis only knows what firing order but I`d rather listen to my cheap Home Depot generator .
If I were Dorna I would mandate 60 deg V12s and be done with engine regulations forever .
Here is how racing should sound .
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1InrgZiv30
( yea I know technically it was 65 deg v12 but it still sound awesome )

Dang... I actually got a chill or two watching that.
One of my favorite bits was Abraham's head pop to see where Stoner was, and also the super slow-mo of JL right after. Awesome stuff.

Wow.
Interesting how it takes super-slo-mo to show how hard modern bikes and riders are working.

WSB machines faster than GP bikes? Does this bode well for the CRT machines?

The article said 5 mph but the speeds quoted were 210 and 195, so I think it was a typo and they meant 15mph.

While excited about this news, I have to think we are comparing apples to oranges. WSB bikes do not have a fuel limit do they? I'm sure without fuel consumption in mind the GP bikes could put out considerably more power?

I'm sure this has been mentioned somewhere but WSBK runs a different layout at Aragon than MotoGP. (Longer straight for the superbikes.) I'd assume that WSBK was testing on the usual WSBK layout. Duh. Seems obvious but maybe Soup didn't make this assumption.

MotoGP teams do have a fuel consumption limit, so what they make without that limitation doesn't matter. Plus, IIRC, the CRT teams get to use more fuel than the factory boys.

I did not know this either. Thanks for the info.
The 'prillers have always been stonking fast on the straights, look at Maximum Baggage blowing past everyone else on the main straight at Phillip Island.

2011 MotoGP bikes like the 195mph Honda were 800cc.
Aprilia's WSB 215mph is awesomely impressive.
However - 2012 MotoGP bikes are now also 1000cc.
How fast will the 1000cc MotoGP bikes be at Aragon? Much higher than 195 mph, methinks, and very likely higher than the Aprilia's 210 mph .

My gut feeling is that Spies will achieve alien status this year. It might not be obvious by the test times but when the racing starts with full race distance factored in on the more powerful bikes along with the new Bridgestones different characteristics I can see him being strong, especially late in the race. Not saying he will go out and beat CS27 and JL99 every week but I'm looking for him to be right with them more often than not.
