Anyone from the Seattle area going?  I haven't been in the Sonora area since the 60's when we used to drive up to Dodge Ridge from Carmel to go skiing.

I'm back on the board and planning on going!  I'll either ride down from Portland, or already be in Bay Area for work and ride over.

Working on the routing this morning, looks like a big 600 mile slab day to Redding then 400 miles of back roads the rest of the way.   Thumbsup Thumbsup

The Gaia Inn in Anderson is a nice place to stay.  Rick Mayer is nearby in case you want seat work done.

From Portland, this (http://g.co/maps/b2q4r) would be a fun 2 day ride to or from.  With modifications possible as time and conditions require.

Yes, There is a better way.  575 miles to Alturas via Chinook Pass, US 97 to Bend, OR 31 to Lakeview, 395 to Alturas.

Second day 360 miles of twisty stuff to Arnold via SR139 to Susanville, backroads to Crescent Mills, SR 89 all the way to Donner Pass, South Tahoe, until SR 4 into Arnold.

I'm probably leaving Thursday morning.  Other option is to leave Wednesday afternoon and re-plan the whole route.

The limit there is quite high, so at least it goes by fast.

That's what I was looking at. Let me speak with the VFR Goddess and see how much time she can take off. I have family in the Truckee area that I wanted to see while I am down there.

Let us know which way you're going.

Still trying to decide how many days I want to be on the road - 3x350 or 575/350

Would it take an absurd amount of time to go 2 down to 395, and take that the whole way?  That was my more time efficient way Smile

Relatively speaking...

Compared to slogging I-5 the whole way, most of 395 would be bliss. Bigsmile

395 through Oregon is a very good road once you get south of Pilot Rock and if you feel the need for speed......Riley to Lakeview isn't scenic but it is wide open.

Hi everyone,

I got an E-mail today, here it is.  So if you are going nows a good time to make the reservation.

"Hello,

I am the Manager of the Arnold Meadowmont Lodge.  I was given your inquiry regarding rooms.  I need to know how many rooms you will need, what type ( queen/Double).  I will also need a credit card to reserve the requested rooms.  No charges will be made prior to your stay.  I look forward to talking with you.
