That can't be WCRM - it's not raining! Or do you guys do something different here on the west coast? Headscratch

Making my way home, currently in Alturas.  Epic ride today after getting new tires at cycle gear in Sacramento.  Left the store at 11:30 and headed for CA 49 via I-80.  Scrubbed them in and hit the twisties.  20 miles of new unstriped pavement after Sierraville.  Very little traffic anywhere.  I don't think I dropped under 70 between Susanville and Adin on CA-139.

Weather was fantastic and looks great the rest of the way home tomorrow.

First WCRM I've went to that I did not bring rain gear to.

And thanks again Andrew for putting this together

You really made good time, we left at 7:00 AM and followed 49 all the way to 89.  Pretty slow in places with lots of traffic but we saw some pretty neat old towns and very windy roads from the gold rush days.  CA-139 was a refreshing chance from all the traffic but we made such good time we skipped Alturus and got to Lakeview by 6:00 PM.  It was a long day but let us get home today by 3:00 PM.

Jen and I left around 11 after breakfast. Had to find another place since the wait at Bristols was 45 min.  Zigzagged our way to I5 through Oakdale and Patterson.  Had some good Mexican food there.  Hit Hwy 130 over to mines road, cooled off at The Junction, and continued on Hwy 130 to Mt Hamilton.  Stopped at the Lick Observatory for a quick pic and beat feet to SF arriving at 5:30, quite hot and sweaty. Had a really nice and cool seafood dinner.

It was nice seeing old faces and meeting new ones... Now if I can only remember the names Smile

We should do a .5 in John Day.

Tomorrow I'm headed down to LA via the coast.  I'll get back to Vantuckey on Sunday.

Cheers, Scott

Home safe after 611 miles from Alturas to my driveway.  Perfect weather, little traffic and I didn't see a single cop.

Did get buzzed by an EA-6 coming up Chinook pass.  I heard a roaring/ripping sound, thought something was wrong with my helmet and looked up to see the plane passing overhead and then peel off to the right.  I think they were using me for targeting practice.

Mcrider, thanks for the advice on the tires and buying dinner that first night.  I'll be signing up for the FJR tech day in Oct.

Lemansiii - good to see you again. Stay tuned for .5 planning.  Have a good time in SoCal.

Too many good roads and times, I haven't had a trip like this in a long time.

Awesome dude!  Too bad we didn't get to ride together.  I'll make it happen for the .5.

Got home last night after staying with my cousin in Truckee. Her husband needed help with a bottle of scotch and a Cuban cigar. Came up through Bend on Tuesday, and then tried to get from the Columbia gorge to St Helens and Rainier but all the roads are still closed due to snow. I Rode about an extra 100 miles to find this out. The only alternatives where another 100 miles back to highway 97 or 40 miles to I5 and slab it. I slabbed it the last 120 miles home  Sad
Good seeing everyone, and looking forward to .5!
