Few years back on a KLR tour of the SW I rode to Monument Valley from Page, AZ.  Even though I grew up in AZ I had never made the trip to Monument Valley.  Had a great time riding the KLR through the park, except for my geologic error:  when sandstone formations erode, the roads are....sand.

A fully loaded KLR with highway tires filled to 28 and 36 psi made for some interesting moments, but I always stayed upright, somehow.   Embarassment

Goosenecks of the San Juan River and the Moqui Dugway were great, too.

And I took the GSA to Canyon de Chelly two summers ago.  Wow.

Southern Utah and Northern Arizona are great.

Great shots.  Really looking forward to exploring down that way.  Debating motorcycle vs. Jeep - it's a tough call with the amount of dirt roads.

Thanks for the great pictures and reports. I like the input from others too on the area as I'm contemplating going through there in April on the way to San Diego. I've never been to Monument Valley and figure I can knock out 4 Corners on the way. Not sure if I'll ride or drive, will be by myself. I've done the drive from TX to CA plenty of times but never ridden.

Four Corners, the actual spot, is one of the more kitschy, underwhelming spots you'll ever find, alas.

Monument Valley, South Rim of the Grand Canyon, Canyon de Chelley are far better places to go.

Great Photos. Always wanted to go there. Glad you identified your Ride. Would a Wing or an FJR make the same trip?

Yes, it would be no problem for a bigger bike. It's all paved road that I was on that day.
