Now that I'm famous.......
«

A guy from Midwest Motorcyclist phoned me a while back and asked if they could interview me about my Iron Butt Rally adventure. I agreed, but figured it would likely be shelved (I'm just about the worst interview EVER - I've been interviewed a few times for TV/magazines about my job stuff, but the material is generally so boring it's almost never used
).
To my surprise, the article just came out with a story about my ride. Hell, they even called it an "exclusive profile" and put my name on cover. So I guess that puts me right up there with Honda, Buell, Rossi, Knievel, and McQueen, right?
You can download the magazine for free at
www.midwestmotorcyclist.com
. Click on the January 2012 issue on the left side and it should load up as a PDF file. It's also available in the midwestern states at your local dealer.

Nice article, congratulations!

Dean -- you either interview better than you think you do, or the writer deserves a raise (smile) . . . .well done!

About time, I say. I have flying the 'interview Dean" banner for a year now. Glad someone listened. I will now cease my strongly worded letter-writing campaign. Congrats!

Dean,
Nice interview..... I still have a great memory of you in Concord, NH where the local LEO pulled you over for riding very briefly down a sidewalk...... Gave the rest of us a chuckle. Good times... great memories

Yup. My timing sucked on that one. While riding over the sidewalk I was thinking "I'll just sneak back out right in front of this car with the funny red and blue lights........D'OH!" As I pulled over I thought that maybe the crowd and other riders hadn't seen me. Nope. No luck there either. At least it had some entertainment value.
The tough moments are fun to think about now. I suspect that's why so many riders do another one. I'm 100% certain I'll do another IBR someday.
