The fact that the dinner menu has no prices should be a clue that your 123 dollar plus pocket lint budget may not go far.

Maybe we could setup a late night dumpster diving diner.

Snowshoe Resort might be the best/closest option, but we should check to see what is open this time of year.

There are a couple restaurants in Monterey. There are a couple restaurants in Marlinton (plus good beer at the liquor store).

If you are willing to eat early, Lewisburg is about 1.5 hours south with a nice ride up 219/etc after dinner (but watch the forest rats).

I agree.  Depending on how soon or late I'll be back to the hotel on Saturday, I may either pick up some grub to bring with me or ride over to Cass or Snowshoe to dinner.

I'm sure we can discuss it Friday evening.  Between now and then, we may want to research what's around the the hours of operation.  I believe there are a few places to eat in Cass which is much closer than Snowshoe.

If someone brought a firearm we could poach a deer.

Two birds with one stone kind of thing...

I should probably state that although my previous comment was intended to make a point, it was also intended to be humorous.  I do not condone killing deer out-of-season, nor with an inappropriate firearm, or without a current hunting license.

But it sure would be nice if we could get more of them shot during hunting season.

I'm honestly surprised they're not more widely used for food, commercially.

Probably too much $ for too little return (meat)

Now if we could get some horse meat we might be onto something.  Just look on Craigslist.  You can get a horse for free.  That should fill a freezer.

Not really.  There are a number of deer farms around.  There's even an elk farm fairly close.

Another dining option (nice, not cheap) on route 219, just south of jct 66. This was recommended by a friend that has a condo at Snowshoe.

That place looks good Garry.  Drool

Everyone should keep in mind that the base of Snowshoe and is ~ 30 miles / 45 min. away from Boyer Station.  If you have a long day ride, you will be riding back to Boyer in the dark.

I know my route runs clockwise so I'll not be coming past Snowshoe on my way back to Boyer.  A quick internet search shows the following as the closest resturants to Boyer Station:

Station 2 Restaurant
Main Street, Durbin, WV
(304) 456-4506 ‎

The Last Run Restaurant State
Rt. 28/92 North between Dunmore and Green Bank,
Cass Scenic Railroad State Park, Cass, WV 24927
(304) 456 9952

I'm more worried about breakfast.  I can't function with less than 3 cups of coffee.

Ride - I can ride all day without food as long as I have coffee.

And dinner?  Dinner or beer, what's the difference.  Both are refreshing and provide caloric sustenance.

But coffee is essential.

A steak, a bag of Doritos, and some cold beers, and S'mores for dessert works just fine for me.
Hell even a pound of good hot dogs (Sabretts or Hebrew National's similar) and a squeeze bottle of brown spicy mustard, I'd call that dinner.

Plus you don't feel as guilty when you puke up hotdogs rather than a 8 dollar piece of good beef.  Lol

I don't need no steeeenking restaurant.

Throw a couple tastycake's in the topbox, with some proper french pressed black coffee and some trailmix and there's breakfast.

At this point I'm planning to come with my case full of cookable food, the campstove, and the grate for the fire.  I have a pot and coffee which I can strain through a sock.   Bigsmile

I will have plenty of fuel for anyone that wants to borrow the stove.  Here it is set up at James Bay:
http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l58/clay_lubbers/James%20Bay%20Trip%202010/makingcoffee.jpg
I forget the brand and name, but it's small and it works well.   Thumbsup  My grate is also up for use after I am done or before I begin.   Bigok
