Awesome meet—in spite of being miserable, sopping wet, and cold for 225 miles Saturday.  Crazy And a near-record turnout for an STN meet—what, didn't we have 50+ people show up? (It beat Nationals from some years.)

I'm literally in a conference call for work so don't have much time to write...but here are my highlight memories:
• beautiful place to stay (Boyer Station)! The rooms were plain but comfortable (and the shower was decent)
• plenty o'beer for everyone!  Bigok
• great hanging around the campfire Fri/Sat nights
• as others have said, surprisingly good food at the Liberty gas station in Boyer (which is up for sale—I think STNers should do a group buy!)
• F'd-up weather forecast for the weekend!!!! I'm a weather geek, and NO forecast said "pouring rain all day"  Angry3
• good practice riding through ponding water on the roads all day Saturday
• it is REALLY depressing how many small, rural mom-n-pop restaurants and gas stations have shut down. Seriously—soon our only choices will be chains in bigger cities.  Thumbsdown
• Sunday riding made up for Saturday—beautiful!

Jamie and I had a great ride with Chris, Liz and Mike—cruised through Cass, up Snowshoe Mountain, down to 219, cruised the ever-pleasant 219 up to Elkins...then over to Seneca Rocks where we had a great lunch on the Front Porch Restaurant—out on the porch with a beautiful view of the rocks.

Jamie and I rode home via Routes 32 and 72. I love Dryfork Road (72)—it's the ultimate goat path! And it was spectacular yesterday in the late afternoon sunlight.

Pics to come later today/tonight!

Talk about feeling old...I have NO clue what caused it (probably riding 2-up, and tense, in the pouring rain all day Saturday)...but I have a painful knot in my back after this weekend. Hurts like a b*tch, and I'm drinking out of the ibuprofen jug this morning.  Sad

I'm tempted to give you a negative for not riding back with us, but I'll cut you a little slack here.  Bigsmile

Campers get treated to things like this with their morning coffee.

I would have enjoyed riding with you folks but I was just done and really wanted to get home to my Tempurpedic wife.

After being lost alone and close to out of fuel in WVA for a while, I took two 45 minute breaks otherwise I road continuously all the way leaving at 10ish and getting home at 11ish

It was good meeting you.

I think I the Rake might have gotten my Aunt with the busted hip.

I waited up all night for that creep.  Does it make a noise like a power saw?  Or is it just half of the guys in tent city?

I remember paying $18.00 to make a local call to my kids to wish them a Happy Valentine's Day because I couldn't find my cell phone at the time.   Headscratch

Ouch.

Wonder who owns that pay phone? That's quite the scam.

This was my contingency route, made up on the fly in an attempt to avoid the rain.  Heading west was kind of like jumping out of the boat and into the ocean.  Crazy

http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1153987

Regardless, I discovered these roads to the west are as good as anything I've ridden to the east.

I'm coming back to attack Rt. 15 when it's dry, and soon.

Had a great ride down. Thanks, SLK50, for leading us into WV. We waved as we blasted past Boyer on our way to Cass. Figured that we’d catch up with everyone Saturday.
The day started pissy and stayed that way. Tried to wait it out but figured, if we’ve got to ride in the rain, we might as well get going for home. So we split. Made it as far as just past Pittsburgh (where the sun was shining).
Had a great ride on Sunday, from Pitt to Buffalo, sticking to twisties. Left the GPS set to ‘Local Roads’ and found that you don’t need a KTM for Adventure Touring: http://g.co/maps/5retm
Had a great time anyhow.
