My big KTM is in the shop for a valve check/adjust and should be done by the end of the week (I hope). I'm looking forward to this trip. I have my route mostly mapped out.

I'm way too anal-retentive to not have every mile of every day (with options) fully mapped out with lodging reserved in advance. Granted, I'm a walking WV road atlas, but that's just how I roll. Someday, maybe, I'll relax enough to just point the bike in a general direction and see where I end up when on a trip.
Does anal retentive have a hyphen in it?

You can amuse yourself with the 15 (now 25 day) forecast.
I predict the forecast will be incorrect. Trust me.
I have a high percentage of good calls.
Also have a route mapped out, that I'll probably end up changing along the way anyway. It's always good to know when you are officially lost. Especially in WV. Especially after watching Wrong Turn 4 last night.

I too enjoy mapping out a route and sticking to it. There are days that I'll head out from home and do day trips where I end up on random roads. But, for long trips, I enjoy the planning. That said, I will (like you) plan some chaos into the route by trying out new-to-me roads.
I found one which I CAN'T WAIT to try. It is a 20 mile section of a dirt road that runs the ridge on the WV/VA border which connects Rt. 39 and Rt 84. Here it is on google earth.
I have 320 miles planned to get there with ~ 30% of that on dirt and I'm most looking forward to checking this out.

Does anal retentive have a hyphen in it?
Don't get me wrong - I do this too - usually with 2 or 3 pre-planned side routes. Somewhere along the way I'll see a windmill or a covered bridge, a sign to a waterfall, or a nicely paved set of twisties leading off an intersection and then the whole plan just gets changed. It's always nice to know there's a room waiting wherever it was you were going.
And not to worry whether anal retentive is hyphenated. Use of the hyphen probably has more to do with your generational age and whether or not you work in a computer related discipline, and how you feel about other forms of punctuation like Oxford commas and run-on sentences, than whether or not it is correct. I could try to explain it, but you'd probably label me anal retentive and we'd need to start drinking now...

I loaded a route also. Looks like Friday morning from Moorefield down Upper Tract, to Smoke Hole road, down to Seneca rocks, Spruce Knob, Helevitia, down 250/219/92 to 250 to 28 to Boyer. Saturday hitting the eastern side of Wv into Va that Garry pointed out in an earlier post in this thread I believe. Both routes are under 250 miles because I got the wife with me.

Garry, I trust your knowledge. I've been going to the Adirondacks for years and the BEST road I've ridden was on one of your routes. I've ridden by that road at least twice a year for over a decade!
