I have it on good authority that if someone brings a guitar, Bella might grace us with some singing if she knows what you can play. There might need to be some liquid encouragement. :-)

I am a chronic overpacker, but I will not be taking my guitar.   Lol

Not being from the area- does anyone have a route planned for riding Saturday?  I'm hoping for something enjoying the WV roads, not a crazy pace (not grandpa pace either though- if it goes too fast I do ride my own ride), and a stop for lunch where I can chat with folks I haven't met face-to-face before.  Minimally if someone knows of a good lunch spot I can point my bike in that direction and ride and meet for lunch.  That's about it.   Embarassment

Typically, group rides are organized Friday evening and Saturday morning with discussion about mileage, speed, and sightseeing preferences taken into consideration.

BTW, if anyone wants to do a dual sport ride, let me know.  I have about 110 miles of dirt roads + another 115 paved (secondary and bombed out tertiary roads) planned.  For the off road sections, it's mostly dirt roads with one section of double track / jeep trail.  You will want to be comfortable being able to travel up to 50 mph on some of the open dirt sections to keep pace.

I have an all-day (380 mile) route planned for Saturday along the WV/VA border (includes a nice bit of the BRP). So far BigBird has asked to tag along. Pace will be brisk and steady with a break every couple hours for gas and a quick stretch. Figure 8 hours in the saddle plus two hours for lunch/breaks (8am - 6pm). That leaves a couple hour window to grab dinner at Snowshoe resort and make it back to Boyer before dark. I don't want to lead a large group on that long a ride, but there is room for some more company...

This is assuming that the shop finishes my bike (valve adjust). Getting a bit concerned. I will call Monday morning to check on the progress...

Let's try my new  Google Drive thing. Here is a link to the Garmin GDB file with my route for Saturday:

There will be plenty of routes planned. I know Jerry has one and I'm sure Doug and Garry have a few.

Plenty of us will be riding 2-up so we will be riding a spirited pace but nothing crazy.

I've decided to bring my aunt with the broken hip along so I can still go.

I will be in the slower more relaxed group as a result of this.

The great thing about riding with garry is he'll take care of you if you crash.   Lol

I have a 400 miler planned and downloaded into the GPS, though that's not to say I wouldn't throw my hat in with another group.

I'm not slow by any means, but I don't ride super fast either.

I have rust to get out, a new bike to get used to, and some confidence to build back up, so maybe I will be a grandpa.   Shrug

(but I doubt it)  Bigsmile

Here's my route...

I have an approx 330 mile loop planned for Saturday. It will be run clockwise, cover all types of roads (no double track for MrsCablebandits sake) and scenery. Back Country County roads, two lane twisties, scenic runs along the New River with lots of elevation changes, sweepers etc. Like Garry, I plan on leaving around 8am with lunch and dinner along the route. Desert possibly in Helvetia if time allows.. Returning close to dark Saturday night, in time for cleaning up and campfire lies. Like Hans mentioned, it will be at a spirited pace most of the time, but nothing too crazy because most of the group will be two up.  Besides, I have a hard time concentrating on high speed twisties with Leisa banging on my helmet..  Rolleyes

Most of you that have ridden with me in the past know my "normal" pace.. usually 10 or 15 over posted limits except in more populated areas, without slowing much in the corners. Also, I will wait for group members at any intersection where there is a turn. If the route continues straight at an intersection, I will usually continue on with whatever members are with me. So if you would be in the back of the group, come to an intersection, and no one is there.. go straight.

I don't mind a large group, as long as we can all stay reasonably close together. Something we can discuss further on Friday night if you have concerns.

There are a couple google goofs on this, the route will be south on 92 thru 39.. not the back and forth stuff showing up on this map..

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msa=0&msid=210635454130714675541.0004bb2599f795d3dd196

Not the exact route including little side detours for scenic pics of the New River Gorge and but would give you an idea of where the route is going and its approx length.

I love Garry's routes but 8am start while camping might be tough. I'll ride with anyone leaving when I do but prefer someone with a little local knowledge to get off the beaten path.
