garry, I'm not SURE its open for dinner and you'd need to call ahead - but the Elk River Touring center had good food and beer last time I was there (about 17 years ago :>) and they still have the same owners, etc.
GAIL, Bandit and I are going there to mountain bike ride on the tandem Sunday and probably stay there that night.
Number is 301-572-3771
I called them yesterday and they said the restaurant was closed this weekend. The woman I spoke to was the one that told me about the Fiddlehead (Fiddle Head) place they just opened at the corner of 219 and 66.

Oh my. That rain cell looks ugly. Me thinks I need to come up with Plan B for the ride down (wait a couple hours for it to pass, take a more direct route).

OK bitches.
Got it done. Thank god for early rising friends with lots of tools and shit laying about.
We tapped it out and threaded a brass sleeve up there and locktited that in.
Inside of the sleeve is threaded too with another smaller drain plug inside.
It looks good. Oil's in and I'm running the bike up to temp again.
I think it's a go.
Now for the belly pan.
Next problem:
Anybody wanna split a room? If I'm gonna GTF outta here anytime soon I just want to jump on the bike and bail down. Camping's a complication I don't have time to deal with now. Just need a patch of carpet.
I'll check back in a few minutes see if there's a taker.
Thanks for the replies.
Bike should be nice and hot now, I'll see if she's holding. Sofar, no seepage at all.

Time to hit the road. I hope the rain has moved east by the time I reach WV (noon).
If I make it to the motel early enough (4pm?) and the weather is good, I might just dump my stuff and make a nice 100 mile twisty loop to the south with dinner in Monterey on the way back.

Elk River Restaurant closed, eh? Rats.
Rue & I rode to Snowshoe about an hour ago and stuck our heads in the Fiddlehead to check out their menu - it's basically bar food with a sizeable bar.

Coincidence? I think not...

If you northern guys headed home on Sunday see a blue Versys, loaded up, going the other way, that'll be me. I'm heading from Philly to Shepherdstown, WV on Sunday for a week of work training. The weather was nice enough in March, I took the Versys down for a week then. This coming week - while rain is predicted - should be even nicer than March. I wish I could've taken the time off to attend the rally, and then jump right up to Shepherdstown on Sunday. Alas, I'm working right up until midnight Saturday night.

Morning here in Cass. Sun came up beautiful but now it's raining steadily. Company houses are very nice, we used the full kitchen to make sausage omelets for breakfast. There is wi-fi here but the connection is spotty.
Last evening we rode to Boyers and ate dinner at the Ryder's restaurant along with the main body of hotelers & campers. Met with the Canadian contingent here in Cass later & exchanged toxic fluids - thanks for the Sleemans, guys.
Gonna take our time and hope the rain moves out before suiting up and riding. We'll probably use one of Garry's shorter routes and plan to have lunch in Helvetia.

Sounds like a good time is being had by all. I'll be loading up on the ibuprofen this morning and doing a bit of yard work to keep mama happy.
