So where do you put gas into this thing?!?

Underseat 3.7 Gallon Fuel Tank
Underseat 3.7 gallon fuel tank centralizes mass and enhances overall handling. Locating the fuel filler underneath the passenger seat allows for innovative centralized storage.

Good review.   I finally got to see one in the flesh and it looks very nice for a $7k bike.   The bike IS incredibly narrow so lane splitting would be super easy in the tightest of gaps.   Not in the market to buy one but when they told me no demo ride (I wasn't even asking!)  I let them keep their $14.00 oil filter I was gonna buy for my vfr.   Lol

Saw one on the weekend for the first time. I have been ignoring bikes for a couple years, so I was surprised to see this with a Honda sticker on the tank. The owner had 3500km on it and said he would get about 400km on a tank unless the terrible prairie winds were sawing at him, or he was heavy on the throttle. The front trunk is bigger than it looks in pics. He had a bigger aftermarket screen on it and Givis and a GPS. He also said that the seat was good for 3 pain free hours, but he was able to tolerate 800km a day without too many issues.

Cycle World named it Best Standard of 2012.

I'm kinda/sorta interested, but wish it could be fueled without removing the rear seat portion. When traveling I have a T-Bag there and would have to unstrap it for each refill.

Or you could just add the accessory top box. Wink

But I also feel the same way about tank bangs during fill ups.

Time to put the filler nozzle back where it belongs...right behind the license plate! Razz

There's a guy on ADV selling his already because he says after 10k miles already, he's bored of it.  Feels like riding a scooter.  Could just be him, could be true, but the bottom line is: why does he hate scooters so much  Bigsmile

I have the bag *and* the top box.  Bigok

Moving the tank bag never bothers me, just flip it forward and refuel.

Get a KTM adventure and you can leave the tank bag in place while you fill the tanks Wink

Just an update on my ownership experience. I have a bit over 6000 miles on my manual transmission NC700X now and have been having a great time. I mounted a Givi top box on it and with a dry bag strapped on the rear seat it suffices for the luggage space I need for long weekend trips to the mountains 500 miles away. Two Rok Straps clip-clip the dry bag off to fill the gas tank and clip-clip it back on. Probend CRM hand guards and a bigger windshield give me adequate wind protection for speeds to 80 mph and the heated grips I installed are nice on cool mornings. I haven't averaged total fuel mileage but an average of 68 to date wouldn't be too far off. On back roads at a good pace I get close to 70 and at 75-80 mph it drops to about 60. 85+ returns mid 50's. It tops out at 110 mph. Most un-Hondalike, the speedo is within 1 mph accurate. Once I rode it a steady 50 mph to see if it would top 80 mpg and it got 90 mpg. During normal riding low fuel starts blinking at about 190 to 210 miles with 40 to 50 miles reserve left. Of course mileage isn't the reason to own a motorcycle and it is fun to ride with good braking and handling. Very flickable and if I keep the corner speed up it will keep the pace of much faster bikes I ride with. Acceleration is about what you get out of 42 rear wheel horsepower - faster than most cars but you have to know who or what you are tangling with. The CG is snake belly low and low speed full lock turns are a doddle. I have ridden some easy dirt and gravel roads with it but haven't considered going to 90/10 or 80/20 tires when the OEM Z8s are done. I think I'll get 8000 or 9000 miles out of the factory tires and the Z8s are OK, actually pretty good. Pilot Road 3's will probably replace them though.

Thanks for keeping us updated, dduelin.  Any new pics with your topbox installed?

Those fuel economy numbers are pretty staggering!   EEK!

This from a dude who rides a beige C-10?

I'm not insulting your bike. I'm just saying, everyone has their own definition of "meh".

The C-10 would smoke that Honda, in every way except maybe in tight twisties. Give it to a rider better than myself and it may smoke it in the twisties too.

+1.  The C-10 was ahead of its time then and better than most riders today.

To be fair, a Metroplitan is better than most riders today.

What does that have to do with the "meh" rating? An FJR would smoke my SV by any objective measure. I know I'm in the minority here but I still find the SV much more fun to ride.

Beside that, beige.
