New law for riding in France comes in in November-take a breathalyser kit
«

The French have come up with another wheeze to scam tourists. From November, anyone driving or riding in France must have at least one single use breathalyser on them-otherwise it's an on the spot fine.

Also, both France and Eire have passed the compulsory hi-viz law for motorcyclists.
Last month, the French introduced a new law banning satellite navigation systems that show the location of speed cameras.
Those caught can be fined 1,500 euros even if the device is not in use

Have you got any links to this nonsense by any chance?

That bothers me even more (well, as much as something that has no effect on my life can). Way to go, France! Don't extend even a bit of trust to your subjects.

Are they targeting bikers only or is this also for all motorists?

I think in the interest of fairness they should have to paint all cars dayglo yellow!

Well, the French just lost our custom. We're headed to Zurich on Tuesday and, leaving from near Wiesbaden, could easily hop off the A5 autobahn near Baden-Baden and drive through Alsace before crossing into Switzerland, a trip that has some appeal. But in a rental car with who knows what opportunities for les flics to lighten our wallets? Mais non!
Hey, belle France! This one's for you!

We had a long chat about driving in Alsace with our friends in Switzerland. The business of the breathalyzer was news to them. It's about a 90 minute drive from west of Zurich to France and, because of the lower taxes, it's an attractive place to buy stuff like bikes, etc. Anyway, other than business of the not having GPS' capable of reporting speed cameras (but then that's not unique to France), none of this stuff seems to be showing up.

OK....this shyte is getting out of hand with governments and revenue collection. I know, I know their country, their rules...thus why I will never drive in France. If I do I will ensure my Android app shows the speed cameras, fsck them.
