Well the wire wheels seem to have done the trick. At last the G12 is getting the attention it deserves. I've been singing the praises of mine for four years. It really is a superb 'Road' bike. Sure a bigger tank would be nice but fuel bladders are cheap and I have yet to actually need need one, even in my 'Wide Brown Land'!!!

The dealer just called me to make sure I was happy with the bike.
This was before I read Pete's post on how to set the security code.
I will have to send that to them!

I think the cosmetic changes really did it, because  they are only getting maybe 5 this year (mine was the first thanks to a deposit - next one is showing up maybe in May) but they have a long list of hopeful buyers in case someone changes their mind.

I just added a Fenda Extenda on the front fender, and a sock shock on the rear shock.
The Fenda Extenda looks stock and will help to mitigate pebble/gravel damage.
I also have one on my St4s and it has been great.  Not sure why fenders are made so short (sport bikes are the worst in this regard), and while the Griso has better coverage than most, this makes it better.
The sock shock (from Traxxion Dynamics) basically prevents cack from building up on the shock, thus lengthening the life of its rod and seals.  Been great on my St4s too.

Been great on my St4s too.

As a rule of thumb, most Guzzi owners disavow any previous ducati relationships.

You should also take every opportunity to remind Ducatisti of the glorious MGS-1 victory at Daytona over the supposedly high-tech NCR Ducati  Cool

I could also mention Steve Atwood's 1993 Iron Butt win, running the final leg on only one cylinder.

Welcome to the Griso madness. We bought my wife a Griso SE last year. Great bike, but hers came with those shit Pirelli Sync's. They'll be coming off this Spring. Probably put the Michelin Pilot Roads on it. We're doing a cross country trip this year including a blast up to Alaska, me hauling the gear on the Stelvio and the wife riding the Griso SE. The 8v motor is a real treat. Both bikes just eat miles.

The Griso is a special bike. You're gonna love it. Of all our Guzzi's, it's the most fun to ride. A total hooligan bike.

To be fair, every bike except Guzzis and Harleys are now 8 or 10 generations better than anything built in 1993.  Lol Lol

Clearly, you haven't ridden an 8v Griso or Stelvio. Light years ahead of anything Guzzi made in '93.

That's very true.  My 1993 Guzzi (vecchio vs the current nuovo) feels like the "the very best of 1957 high performance."  It's really a neat bike, but nothing at all like a new Griso.

I had a V11 sport...  I loved that bike for the sound and jaw dropping beauty.

Anyone care to comment on how the engines would compare?  Would anyone describe the difference as 'night and day,' or is it pretty similar, just a step up?

I love the looks of this bike...  maybe even as much as I loved the Sport's looks.  The newer 1200 Sport in black and white used to tempt me...  but I like this way more.

The 8V motored bikes are streets ahead of the old pushrod 4 valvers. Apart from looking similar they have NOTHING in common. The last of the 4V' all make mid to high seventies horsepower. A properly set up 8V makes 105HP at the rear wheel.

The old motors are nice. The new bikes are better. Night and day better. In Bahrain I don't know if you can get the Sport 1200 8V.

Thanks for the info, Pete!  I should be back in the States soon enough... I just need to be good with the paychecks until then so I can jump on something awesome (other than my wife) when I do.   Bigsmile

For some reason only known to the inscrutable Gnomes at MGNA you don't get the 1200 Sport 8V, (Which for some equally inexplicable reason the factory calls the '4V'???). Currently available as 2012 8V models in the US are, I believe Griso, Stelvio and Norge.

You don't get the 1200 'Sport' 4V or the Bellagio. Which IMHO makes MGNA bonkers!!!!
