Simpson Helmets?

Back in the 80s Simpson helmets were all the rage, and considered top of the line.
I had one exactly like this in the 1980s... very badass and all that. I think it cost me about $600 way back then.
What happened to Simpson's motorcycle line? Anyone still use them? American made, but who sells them? Have they abandoned the motorcycle market? Why? .

I had a black one like that. Very nice helmet back in the day and yeah it was $500+ bones in the 80s. Not sure why they dropped the motorcycle line.

Bill Simpson sold the company...it dropped in quality then..
He started a new company called Impact...
So the 2012company Simpson is not the same company as it was in the 80s.

According to the wealth of info that is wiki, Bill also sold Impact Racing to Mastercraft Safety.
A quick glance doesn't look like anything for street use by mere mortals.

My company makes the printable perforated vinyl material on that shield.
I know. This is STN. Who cares, right?

That looks like the diamondback...the hip one to have is the Bandit.
ETA: I thought about getting one for a while...if there were test results on SHARP for one I'd probably still consider it. Classic british hooligan helmet.

The first full face helmet I ever bought was a Simpson.
I don't remember the year but I believe it was 82 or earlier.
I thought I would only wear it in the winter but never went back to open face helmets again.

I'm wracking my brain to remember the earliest helmets I owned... think the first was a Grant (?), followed by a
Kiwi
(ach, it was a NAVA) and a Bieffe. Then a series of Shoeis until a few years ago when I bought my first HJC, the Spies carbon model.

My first one was a Shoei RF105V, and I had an RF series on my head all the way until the RF1000 came out. They changed the fit, and I could no longer wear them. I'm now a Scorpion fan, and will never spend so much on a helmet again.
Simpson helmets were always cool though...

My first was an open face Bell. Next was an orange, Bell Star full face with the larger opening. Bell was the hot brand back them.

Yep... and it was more expensive, which is why my first full-face helmet was a Grant!
I honestly can't recall the maker of the open-face bucket I had first.
